Title: Ideas Needed For Our Stimulus Package
Post by: jay on November 25, 2008, 05:51:45 AM
Congressman Ryan stated that local projects must be in the planning stage when the federal government's stimulus package begins.

Question
Which local construction projects and/or green energy projects would you like to see in the city of Youngstown?

I would like to have some of the stimulus money be used to install smaller solar energy power stations in the neighborhoods of Youngstown.

Examples
On the west side, the property left vacant after the removal of Washington School could be used for one of these solar energy stations.

When the old West Elementary School is demolished, almost an entire block would also be available for a solar energy station.

Build an Ikea in Youngstown.

Ikea is supposed to be a great company to work for, so there would be more jobs.

Locate it downtown and college students would be sure to purchase furnishings for their apartments and dorm rooms.

Ikea would also ad to the hip, urban image of Downtown Youngstown.  This might encourage young, single professionals to consider living downtown.

Closest Ikea is in Pittsburgh....locating one here might encourage more out of town shoppers to visit Youngstown.
