No matter which candidate wins the presidential election, history will be made.
Sarah PALIN!!!
What a pick for McCain!
Could get real interesting.
The liberals, not content with attacking Palin on the merits of her qualifications are now attacking her children, especially her daughter Bristol, accusing her of being the real mother of baby Trig. Just how low can you get? What office are her children going to hold?
Where did you see that? I hadn't heard that yet.
Daily Kos started it and a number of other bloggers picked it up.
http://dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8/30/121350/137/486/580223
A reader of my web site alerted me to the story, and after I updated the site on hurricane news, I ran a google search and found that none of the mainstream media aside from brief mentions in the Times (London) and the Daily Mail (London) are covering it.
Will I run with it on my web site? Absolutely no until it is covered by responsable media sources?
I do though suspect that Rush Limbaugh will jump on it some time next week, and when he does the MSP (Mainstream Press) will mention it, and it will be interesting to see how they spin it, but with the hurricane news and the fact that the Republican Convention will be shortened, the story may very well die.
I was aware of this low attack the other day. They got NOTHING on Sarah... so they attack her for this, a blatant LIE!
So I fought these a$$es back: http://mvred.com/2008/08/31/the-dailykos-and-the-effect-of-free-speech/
Folks... She is PREGNANT!
The unfortunate part about it is that Daily Kos is one of a number of bloggers that the media uses, and this includes C-SPAN, which means that they will give them more credibility.
You can bet that with the polls showing that Obama and McCain are running neck and neck that the Democrats are going to pull out all the stops. You have to remember that a number of conservative sites have been attacking their candidate unmercifully ever since he announced (WorldNetDaily being an example).
Is it right? Absolutely no, but its a part of politics. Look at how McCain was attacked because of his adopted daughter.
Fortunately the hurricane is distracting the MSM and hopefully the story will die before they can get their teeth into it.
A new twist to the story:

UPDATE:

Well the girl made a mistake, but she sure learned her lesson now. She chose life over abortion, which shows her family is strongly for life. I respect Obama in this case for saying lay off Palin. Private Lives must be left out of the Campaign.
This should not change anyone's vote.. We must move on with the real issues facing America.
The more the media hammers on this, could it come back to bite them?
This afternoon, hours after the news broke, CNN's Wolf Blitzer was calling it "Breaking News", acting like he was breaking fresh new news while down in New Orleans there was true "Breaking News" that a levy was in serious risk of breaking and pouring thousands of gallons of water into a major industrial/agriculture area of the area.
Obama said it all ... keep the kids out of it ... but none of the media types who clame to respect him are listening.
If Dick Morris, who I don't agree with much of the time, says it won't matter, I know it won't. He was a Clinton Adviser and perhaps the best political adviser living today.
Regardless.. If they make it a story about the Kos nuts.. it Hurts Obama. If they make it a story about Bristol.. It Could Hurt McCain.
Here is how the NYT covered the story:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/us/politics/02PALINDAY.html?hp=&pagewanted=all
Apparently the media has been misreading Republicans on this story.
I suspect that there are going to be a lot of MSM folks heading off to the local supermarket to stock up on corn starch to sooth the gall based on this latest development/
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/palin.evangelicals/?iref=mpstoryview
Richard Land: "Those who criticize the Palin family don't understand that we don't see babies as a punishment but as a blessing. Barack Obama said that if one of his daughters made a mistake and got pregnant out of wedlock, he wouldn't want her to be punished with a child. Pro-lifers don't see a child as punishment."
James Dobson: "We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.
"Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have."
"Fortunately, Bristol is following her mother and father's example of choosing life in the midst of a difficult situation," Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said. "We are committed to praying for Bristol and her husband-to-be and the entire Palin family as they walk through a very private matter in the eyes of the public."
Ok i will admit that this whole thing suprised me.
I did not/do not believe any of the crap they were saying about Palin's youngest son. And her oldest daughter should be left alone as should the father of the child. But man does this women realize what her family is in for?
Those no sex ed rules are working great! :)
And you would be exactly right Mary.
How could a girl who is now pregnant have given birth to another baby in this time frame?
The person who started this story didn't know just how quickly it would blow up in his face.
I'm reminded of how certain people accused John McCain of fathering a Black baby when it turned out that the girl was in point of fact adopted, and McCain had the paperwork to prove it.
Mud slinging is a part of any political campaign, and that is why I take anything that someone who doesn't have the courage to use his own name passes off something as fact with a grain of salt, and I'm amazed that the MSM would run with it. {Check and double check ... multiple sources ... documentation is what they are taught.} In this case they used an anonymous source. A source unknown to them who they could have gone to interview prior to running with the story.
Tonight the MSM will be shut up by Palin. I can't wait for her speech
Wolf Blitzer of all people (CNN) said after she finished that she hit a grand slam out of the park.
Larry Zigler King (CNN) who has gone through no fewer than 7 marrages put her down.
FABULOUS SPEECH!
CAUTION: The National Enquirer is doing a John Edwards on Sarah Palin, and its starting to be taken up by some MSM papers.
The Troopergate matter is being hit strong by the MSM.
Lets face it the MSM is out to destroy Palin and her family and won't let up until she drops out,
and even if she does, they'll continue to drive knifes into he back.
QuoteFABULOUS SPEECH!
In your opinion, what did she say that was so fabulous?
I found the speech to be the same political rhetoric we hear form EVERY runner, Republican and Democrat alike. It didn't seem like her words many times but they all have speech writers so I guess it never is.
She started off by touting McCain.
Then went on to bash Obama.
I have been trying to research the tax hike the Republicans are claiming will happen if the Dems get in. According to what I have found, your taxes will only be affected if you make over 500k. I don't know if that is true but if it is true, I say tax the he** of those people and give the little guy a break.
She said only a few sentences about herself and her family and the only personal position she took was in reference to special ends children.
She concluded by touting McCain again.
People that live on substantially more than middle class earnings and claim to be representative of, or advocates for, the middle class need to scrutinized. I've been researching her right down to her property records and corporation documents. There are some things that are not favorable but that is probably the case if any one of us were to run for office.
To be perfectly honest, neither Palin nor McCain in their speeches spelled out exactly what they would do if elected, and this opened the door for the MSM to slam them.
Its not enough to simply slam Obama ... that is a given, how are they different than their Democratic opponent?
We all know McCain's history, yet the whole convention centered around John McCain's story, but little if anything about what he will do if elected.
In past conventions the candidates spelled out their agenda pumping the party platform, so why did they remain silent on it this year?
Again, they knew that the MSM would be watching for specifics, and they failed to give them.
We can go to the Platform and read it, but we also want to hear it from their own lips. We didn't get it. Remember this, it's not enough to play to the delegates ... they must also play to the TV viewers, and particularly those who haven't committed to either candidate.

To me you are naive to believe that Obama will not raise your taxes. Do the math. $850 million of new spending. He plans to tax the rich, brilliant idea since they run the businesses of this nation, but it's not like they are not taxed enough, the top 20% of Americans pay 80% of our taxes.
So ask me how will this help the economy?
-Raise everyone's taxes. There is no way you can spend $850 million by just raising the riches high taxes, everyone's taxes will be raised.
-Raise business-capital gains-dividends-death taxes... Brilliant for economic development.
-And the GOP attacked Obama for raising everyone's taxes. Not once was that point refuted by the Obama campaign. They attacked McCain for not being specific, when he clearly mentioned his plans for the economy-energy-health care-education.
Palin's speech energized the Conservative Republican base that absolutely LOVE her. We have had a rough time the past few years, and that was the medicine to get us back to where we need to be to win this election.
ForumManager, let me ask you this. In a year when the Republicans are heavily unpopular, a lame duck President with a 30% approval rating, and a well spoken Democratic candidate connecting with Americans; how come this race is tied?!
Here is what some Democrats have told me, and yes they are Hillary voters:
-They will not vote for Obama for his attacks on Clinton.
-They do not want higher taxes when our economy is bad.
-McCain is a Maverick.
Listen, I am not McCainiac! I was not for him until MARCH. I was supporting two other Republicans before I decided to back John McCain. Want to know why I am not a big fan of him: He is a MODERATE. He has angered myself as a Republican a number of times. He is a middle of the aisle guy, not that it's bad, but when it comes to immigration and ANWR, he has angered me in the past. Little did I realize that is the same reason he will be our next President come January 2009!
QuotePalin's speech energized the Conservative Republican base that absolutely LOVE her. We have had a rough time the past few years, and that was the medicine to get us back to where we need to be to win this election.
That's all I wanted to know.
And I did say that I am researching the tax claims not that I believed it one way or the other and I feel that the top 20% use so many tax loopholes that they only pay a fraction of their fair share.
The question is ... how will she hold up in the debate with Biden? It's been suggested that she should be well briefed on one major issue and avoid trying to jump around on four or five issues.
She has plenty of time to be coached by her handlers, and it all comes down to how she uses that time.
Right now on the stump, shes echoing her convention speech, and that isn't going to help her in the long run.
What about foreign policy issues? McCain will be sending her out to meet with foreign leaders. Will she be able to meet with them and discuss critical issues? That has yet to be proven.
I certainly am sure that Biden will be bringing up issues such as that and lets face it, he has much more experience in these matters.
The moderators of the debate are not going to use Republican talking points when grilling her, and because she's being kept away from the press, the questions will be tough indeed.
I have not heard one new thing from this women since the first speech she gave. Now she is staying with McCain longer rather then spliting the county. Why? Is she not ready? At this point she will never survive Biden.
Well in regard to foreign policy...
if she really believes hockey moms are pit bulls with lipstick... she will attack first, ask questions later. LOL!

In all these debates we keep seeing both sides tossing their dirty laundry into a washing machine full of muddy water hoping that sooner or later they'll come out clean. They keep tossing out the same buzzwords and sweet platitudes yet neither side is dealing with the cold hard specifics and the devil is in the details.
I want the complete bottom line step-by-step details about how they are going to carry out their platform in their own words and not sketches fed to them by their handlers. The platform is what they are running on, and its what they will be judged on.
As to those first time candidates for Congressional seats are concerned remember this, if you were to win, you'd be a freshman and its rare indeed that a Freshman gets anything done, a Freshman gets insignificant committee assignments, and it's the rare Freshman that comes under the wings of senior members. And when it comes to getting anything for their district, they get precious little, and that is what the voters will judge them on, like it or not.
During the campaign they can preach good sermons on the stump, but when they go to Congress they are expected to go with the program, and if they don't they are left out in the cold, with nothing to show for it when they come up for re-election.
They can do their one-minute sound bites, take Special Orders, and have articles inserted into the Congressional Record, but that means squat when it comes to getting anything done for the people of their district.
Gibson from ABC will be in Alaska later this week for an interview with Palin.
UPDATE, 3:15 p.m.: CNN Correspondent Dana Bash has confirmed additional details about the upcoming interview: According to a McCain aide, the plan is for Gibson to have time with Palin over two days — Thursday and Friday of this coming week. The interview will be part sit-down, part walk-and-talk at various locations in Alaska.
Sarah Palin and the Press

Tons of polls out:
Rasmussen: McCain up 1.
Hotline: Tied
USAToday: McCain up +10 [likely] +4 [registered].
CBS: Tied
CNN: Tied
Gallup: McCain up 3 yesterday, new poll to be released any minute.
RCP Polling Average has McCain up 2 points for the first time in this election, an 8pt swing since the DNC.
SARAH PALIN!!!!
Palin and indicted Alaska senator Ted Stevens were pretty close chums...until he got indicted.
Alaska has asked for over $300 per person in federal funding for pet projects this year. Her first term as governor she asked for over $500. The average state asks for less than $30 per person. Fiscal conservatism at its best. Ironic considering her speech. Funny how Palin didn't mention she supported the "bridge to nowhere" up until the point she found out that her state would end up paying 2/3 of the nearly $400 million project. She kept $30 million that had been earmarked for it anyways...
I'll post citations about these facts later
Attack on Palin's religious beliefs:
In 1960 the media of the day was lashing out at JFK because he was a Roman Catholic, the media today is lashing out at Sarah Palin because she is an Evangelical Protestant. What do they want ... an atheist who believes in extreme liberal issues and refuses to have anything to do with religion in any form?
Why not just adopt the same policies that are in place as Saudi Arabia or China?
Wolf Blitzer on The Situation Room told a BALD FACED LIE when he said that he couldn't remember ANY TIME THAT A PASTOR HAD ANY EFFECT ON A CAMPAIGN ... what about the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Blitzer? What about the Rev. Jerry Falwell Blitzer? What about Pat Robertson Blitzer?
BLITZER did interviews with all these men on the Situation Room and Late Edition regarding their involvement in Presidential campaigns.
Blitzers exact words:
THE SITUATION ROOM
9/8/08
BLITZER: All right. We'll be watching that closely. Randi will have much more later tonight here on CNN.
I don't remember a time when a candidate's pastor -- whether on the Democratic side with Barack Obama, or now with Sarah Palin, on the Republican side -- a pastor has potentially had political impact on what's going on. But maybe you can remind me if that's happened in the past.
Obama is a real class guy:
"You know, you can put lipstick on a pig," Obama said, "but it's still a pig." Reference to Palin.
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called 'change,'" Obama continued,
"it's still gonna stink after eight years."

Joe was at a rally and spotted a state legislator in the front row and called out to him to stand and be recognized before he realized that the man was a paraplegic in a wheelchair ... realizing his mistake he called upon the audience to stand for the man.
Towntalk... not your link... the one at mvred.com
I followed yours... what an embarrassing moment that must have been.
The bad thing about it was that Rush Limbaugh ran the clip at least 10 times today. I will not be linking to it on my web site because I suspect that Biden wanted to crawl into a hole and pull in in after himself.
Well I don't know about the rest of the world, But i am beginning to like Governor palin more and more every day.

He says Hillary should've been the VP!!!!
TRANSCRIPT VIA CNN
"Make no mistake about this, Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let's get that straight," Biden said testily when a voter told Biden he was glad the Delaware senator had been chosen and not Clinton.
"She's a truly close personal friend and she is qualified to be President of the United States of America, she's easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me," he continued.
"I mean that sincerely, she's first rate."

The rape kit controversy
http://townhall.com/columnists/AmandaCarpenter/2008/09/11/the_palin_rape_kit_myth?page=full
Interesting
I saw a news byte that said Alaska has the highest rate of rape and women murdered by men per capita in the nation. Don't know if that is accurate.
As to whether Mayor Palin told the Police to charge for the kits or not has yet to be documented. Where is the black and white memo or letter with her handwriting on it. I want to see the paper trail with my own two eyes with the documents in my own two hands, not the word of a talking head on TV, a blogger with not direct first person singular relation to the city, or the Police Department, or the word of newspaper writers.
When ABC aired Charlie Gibson's interview with Sarah Palin, it was heavily edited. Here is the full unedited transcript:

Don't you just love the question on the Bush Doctrine. Even I a Bush supporter doesn't have the slightest clue what half that stuff is.
MCCAIN
PALIN 2008
thanks for the link, Towntalk.
I wasn't impressed with her interview. it was evident she was weighing every word very carefully. Many people don't interview well and since she has come under the gun so much we can all understand why she was cautious.
Here is one of the best explanations of the Bush Doctrine I know of.

I guess that if I were to be in her shoes, I would be weighing every word too.
Never before in my memory has a Vice Presidential candidate received this much attention right out of the starting gate.
When the opposition's Presidential candidate pays more attention to her than he does McCain (or at least that's the impression we get from all the news coverage we're getting) its no wonder that she's being very careful about what she says.
As I prepare my web site each day there are at least 12 - 15 articles on Palin and that doesn't include TV \Radio transcripts. This is unheard of in past elections.
McCain's age has a whole lot to do with it added to the fact that he said that he's be a one term President which places her in a position to make the run herself in 2012.
For those following the Palin Troopergate matter, I have just put up on my website a document on the matter that you will be intereste in reading containing e-mails and memos.
Read them and you be the judge.
