August 25 - 7:00pm Regional Cooperation
Mayor William A. Currin of Hudson, Mayor Jay Williams of Youngstown, Dan Mamula, Coordinator of the Mahoning River Corridor of Opportunity, and Arnold Clebone, Regional Economic Development Director, Ohio Department of Development will talk about the challenges and hopes of regional cooperation, including:
· The revolutionary proposal to develop a comprehensive, collaborative, sustainable, nonpartisan 16 county (NEO) regional Economic Development Program based on "Smart" regional land use planning and new growth tax base revenue sharing. A strategy which will boost the region's lagging economy by reducing the costly competition for new business among cities & townships of NEO and instead spearhead the region into a formidable contender in the global market place. The plan will also reduce costly sprawl in a region that has seen little population growth.
· The remarkable first steps of the 8 cities along the Mahoning River to cooperate to spur
development along the 31 miles of the Mahoning River, from Newton Falls to Lowellville
· A dozen+ ways you can learn more, do more and make a difference! The panel moderator will be Sarah Lown
Development Incentive Director, City of Youngstown
