Title: Roads Into Town
Post by: kitten44505 on May 06, 2005, 11:39:02 AM
While some folks are worried about downtown events, and ways to spend tax dollars how about pressing just as hard on getting the city off the dime and start doing something about the roads leading in to Youngstown. They are all in awful shape.

Whether you come in from the North or the South or the East or the West outsiders get the idea that they are entering a skid row burg that couldn't care less about the impression it makes on outsiders.

CLEAN UP THE DARN AREAS and quit worrying about how many coffee shops the downtown has because if the outsiders are turned off by the ugly corrodores leading into the city, then there won't be customers for the coffee shops, tea rooms or even a strip bar.

Simply talking about it doesn't cut it.

I for one am sick and tired of talk and want to see real action.

This year the StreetScape committee of Youngstown CityScape will start to address the problems of the gateways leading into the city of Youngstown.  On June 4, crews of volunteers will begin this process.  The funding to purchase plants and materials will come largely from the donations of businesses and individuals of the community.
