I often find an old pop bottle from one of the beverage companies that once existed in Youngstown. Name some of the local soda pop companies from Youngstown's past.
Dunning Crum bottled Golden Age, Royal Crown Cola and Hires Root Beer
During prohibition, the local breweries - (Renners and Smith Brewers) switched to bottling soda pop.
At one time, Coca-Cola; Pepsi; and 7-up had bottling plants here.
Star Bottling was also located in the city.
It's amazing, we tend to think of Youngstown just in terms of steel, yet a trip through old city directories shows that Youngstown use to be quite diversified.

Don't forget about Harry Burt and the Good Humor Ice Cream Company.
His confectionary was located downtown. Harry basically invented the
Ice Cream Bar with the stick in it. (or at least he got the patent for it,
whatever...)
Good Humor is now part of Bryers Ice Cream company.
