Title: Any interest in attending local plays?
Post by: jay on October 26, 2002, 06:15:00 PM
Would anyone be interested in forming a group to attend plays being staged in downtown Youngstown?

If we attended as a group, we could be eligible to receive a group discount for admission tickets.

The group could also patronize downtown restaurants before or after a play.  Both of these actions would help the downtown economy.

Wonderful idea.  I'd love to be a part of it.

Most definitely would attend plays at the Playhouse, as well as plays at YSU.   I would also consider other events sponsored by our local arts council.  I hope Jay receives feedback.  I'll do my part by announcing the idea at my blockwatch and 7th Ward Coalition meetings.

Last Friday evening our group attended the play "Deathtrap" at the Youngstown Playhouse.  Before the play, we dined at the Dragon Palace on South Avenue in the seventh ward.

Last Friday a group of us went to see a play at The Victorian Players. This is a small, old church and is a fun place to see a play. It's so small practically all the seats are good. Also, since there were 8 of us, we got more than a 50% discount on the tickets which was a great deal. I was even willing to pay more. It was less than the price of a movie ticket.

Prior to that, we had dinner at the Cedars Cafe in downtown Youngstown. The food was great, too.

Any suggestions for the next play to attend? Who's interested in joining the group?
