Post by: Towntalk on December 13, 2007, 02:09:38 PM
Fencing off the portion of the Liberty Plaza where the Wal-Mart Super Store will go. Report has it that demolition will begin before Christmas and the Wal-Mart construction will begin in Spring 2008.

Hopefully the new Wal-Mart will breathe some life back into the Liberty
Plaza, and the rest of the Belmont Avenue retail corridor along with
it.

It sure would be nice to have a decent hardware store somewhere on
Belmont, instead of having to drive all the way to Boardman or
Austintown for stuff.

I've heard that it's likely that a Lowe's will be located near this WalMart.  But, I don't have a good source for this info.

My understanding is that a Home Depot or Lowes is being strongly considered in the location of the vacant "Belmont Inn" (next Handel's).

Well if a Lowes or Home Despot goes up in Liberty the other one will build right down the street.

There is always Girard Hardware.  Thats not too far from Liberty.

I have fond childhood memories of Girard Hardware - I used to go there on Saturdays
to get parts for all of my "projects" when I was a kid.......
