The Stambaugh Chorus, under the direction of Don Megahan, will present a Holiday concert entitled "Gifts of Love" at 5 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2007 in First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio. Paula Kubik will accompany. Tickets are $10 at the door. Advance reservations are Buy One Ticket Get One Free (2 for $10). College students with ID and youths, high school age and younger will be admitted free. Reservations can be made online or by calling 330-881-9517. The program will begin with "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" arr. Hawley Ades. It will be followed by "There Is No Rose" by Stephen Caracciola with alto soloist, Alice Birch. "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming" by Praetorius and Overby will round out the first part.
The heart of the concert will be a performance of "Gloria" by Antonio Vivaldi. In addition to the choral movements of the popular piece, sopranos Stephanie Champion and Peggy Roberts will perform the duet "Laudamus te." "Domine Deus" will be presented by Rosemary Minghetti, soprano. Alto Leigh Altier will sing "Domine Deus, Agnus Dei" and "Qui sedes ad dexteram" will be performed by Karen Barr-Cisine, alto.
Assistant Director, Linda Rein will conduct "Deck the Nutcracker Hall" arr. Greg Gilpin, and "Breath of Heaven" arr. Craig Courtney featuring soprano, Maureen Young. "Mid-winter" by Bob Chilcott will be performed by the soprano and alto sections. The chorus is very proud to present "Gifts of Love" by Marcus and Jennings. "The Cloths of Heaven" by Z. Randall Stroope and Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" from "Messiah" will close the program. A reception will follow the concert with refreshments.
