The Youngstown School Board has placed a new 9.5 mill levy on the ballot for the November election.
Why should the new levy be approved?
Why should the new levy be defeated?
Throwing more money at a failing school system IS NOT going to bring about the changes that are ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!
Just listen to what families are saying about their experiences with the City Schools. Families are pulling their children out of the Public School System at a rate that should prove better than anything else that the time has come for radical measures.
STEP 1. FIRE THE SUPERINTENDANT
STEP 2. VOTE IN AN ENTIRELY NEW BOARD OF EDUCATION.
STEP 3. BRING IN A NEW SUPERINTENDANT FROM OUTSIDE THE DISTRICT.
STEP 4. HAVE THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION SEND IN PERSONAL TO OVERSEE THE OPERATION OF THE CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM WITH THE POWER TO FIRE INCOMPITANT TEACHERS WITHOUT HAVING TO GO THROUGH THE BOARD.
STEP 5. A COMPLETE AUDIT OF THE SYSTEMS FINANCES.
STEP 6. A COMPLETE AUDIT OF ALL THE CLASSROOM PERSONAL AS TO THEIR QUALIFICATIONS.
STEP 7. KEEP THE SYSTEM UNDER STATE CONTROL UNTIL IT CAN BE PROVEN THAT ALL THE GOALS NOT HAVE BEEN REACHED BUT CAN BE SUSTAINED.
The Tuesday newspaper contains a front page story about a group which organized to oppose the levy. The official name appears to be The Citizens Action Committee Against the Levy.
