If this article is correct, here is an answer why our eateries and theaters are having problems. If a family has to choose between putting bread on the table, cloths on their backs and paying bills and going out to eat, or to a show, the show and the eateries are at the very bottom of their priority list.
Shows are great ... so is dining out, but when a family of at least 4 is trying to survive on $20,000 - $30,000 a year, pay their bills, try to have some sort of health insurance and struggle with the highest utility rates in the state, it's unreasonable to expect them to support our restaurants and theaters, and as the article says, poverty is moving out of center city into the suburbs.
