Title: Save the West Federal Median
Post by: tony on August 04, 2007, 08:40:12 AM
To:  Youngstown City Council

We the undersigned respectfully ask the City of Youngstown and our City Council to reconsider and postpone the following decision: Removal of the median on West Federal Street to create additional diagonal parking spaces.

We can certainly understand your desire to increase tourism to our downtown, but this proposal as it stands right now is ill informed and unwelcome by many business leaders, young professionals, and community leaders. The benefits of a tree-lined median far outweigh any additional parking spaces created by your proposal. This action will do nothing to either promote downtown tourism, or tackle the current "perception" of a lack of Downtown parking. Therefore, it is necessary to take the adequate time to properly plan the "Modernization" of West Federal Street and not rush to any decision that can jeopardize the future of such an important artery of Downtown Youngstown.

Sincerely,
