While many of us were sleeping, the Youngstown Fire Department was busy with this early morning fire at the former Best Way Foods Market at the corner of Woodland and Hillman on the south side of Youngstown.

At 5:44am this morning, the Youngstown Fire Department responded to a vacant structure fire at the corners of Hillman and Woodland on the lower South Side.
Engines 2, Ladder 24 and Battalion 2 responded from the Indianola Ave Station, Squad 33 and Battalion 1 from downtown, Engine 3 from the West Side and Engine 7 from the North Side responded.
Battalion 1 arrived on scene and reported a 2 sty wood frame vacant commercial with smoke showing from the 2nd floor. Incoming fire crews hooked up to the hydrant across the street from the fire building. The incident commander requested Ladder 24 be set up to attack the fire on the second floor due to the instability of the floors in the structure.
At 5:58am, Ohio Edison was requested due to a problem with a transformer and power lines near the fire building.
Crews began to clear the fire scene at 7:18am.
The building will most likely be added to the demolition list and the fire is under investigation.
