Post by: DickKemp on July 12, 2007, 02:46:56 PM
Does anyone know where, or if, Esther Hamilton's old Vindy columns can be read on the web?

Saddly Miss Hamilton's columns are not available on the web. The only way that you can read them is if  you have access to the Main Branch of the Pulic Library in Youngstown which as a large collection on Youngstown newspapers on microfilm. She wrote for both the Youngstown Telegrm and the Youngstown Vindicator.

Her Youngstown Telegram years - 1918 to 1936
Her Youngstown Vindicator years - 1936 to 1970

After she retired, she occassionally sent back columns from her home in Florida, but they did not match her work during her Youngstown years.

Esther was a great person, and as tough flint.

After she retired, her files were preserved by the Vindicator because of their wealth of information about Youngstown and the people, a true treasure trove that could never be replaced.
