Title: Danger from Storm Damage
Post by: jay on June 08, 2007, 10:46:20 PM
The YPD is responding to numerous reports of downed and sparking wires.  If you have to go out, be very careful.

Is it true that many trees were uprooted in Wick Park on the north side of Youngstown?

I haven't been out this evening, but I do live two blocks north of Wick Park, and the wind wasn't strong enough to down a tree here. In fact, it was stronger during the last storm. Could lightning have struck in the park? There was a hit across the street from me, but fortunately it did no damage.

According to WFMJ, their TV transmitter was hit and the station was off the air.

If there were downed trees in Wick Park please let us know.

I know that the power in my area went of and on several times, but there were no downed wires.

One of the TV stations said that it was bad around YSU as well as downtown.

We were out and about all over the south, east and west sides of town this evening. There were a lot of downed trees. On 422 a tree in front of Immaculate Conception was down roots and all.

Not sure about the north side, only side of town i didn't have errands on!

This tree was blown over during the storm.  The church is on S. Belle Vista on the west side.

Our devil strip maple tree sustained quite a bit of damage.  I called Ohio Ed last night  because a broken branch is hanging tangled in an electric line.  I'm sure they have bigger priorities right now. The tree next door seems to be ill and instead of broken branches... the branches and leaves DISAPPEARED altogether... no sign of them - gone with the wind.
I live on the west side not far from the tree in the picture.
