Title: YFD Trucks on South Avenue Today

Something was happening on South Avenue today at the Save-A-Lot grocery store.  This photo was taken at 12:40 p.m.

Was that actually the Coke distribution center area?  There was a call there around that time for a Commercial Structure Fire.

On Wednesday, May 23rd at approximately 12:30pm, the Youngstown Fire Department was called to a reported commercial structure fire at 531 E. Indianola, the Coca Cola Bottling Company. Dispatch advised all responding companies that the callers was reporting smoke inside the building. Engine 2, Ladder 24 and Battalion 2 from the Uptown Station, Engine 9 from the Midlothian Station, Engine 6 from the Oak Street Station and Squad 33 and Battalion 1 from Downtown responded.

Engine 2, Ladder 24 and Battalion 2 arrived on scene and reported light smoke showing from the roof of the building. A malfunctioning air handling unit on the roof was quickly located. Command kept Engines 2 and Ladder 24 on the scene to ventilate the building and all other companies were cleared shortly after arriving on scene.

Engine 2 is shown on the left, Ladder 24 in the middle and Battalion 1 on the right.
