Title: County Fair
Post by: Towntalk on April 29, 2007, 12:13:39 PM
The year is 1899 and your family is planning to go to the County Fair. The question is:

Where was the Fairgrounds located in that year?
What road would you take to get there?

ANSWER:

The fairgrounds was located on Belmont Avenue just north of Park Avenue and among other features had a half mile race track.

In 1899 the northern end of the Fairgrounds bordered on the City Limits, and the Robertson Map shows some 24 buildings on the Fairgrounds but doesn't specify what they were used for.

Thanks for the information.

Since Canfield was the original county seat, I assumed it had always been there.
