A petition drive has been started by north side residents to prevent moving an old church building to Wick Park.
The people say they are in favor of saving the former Welsh Church. They want the old church moved to another location such as a vacant lot on Park Avenue across from the park or to a location near the downtown amphitheater.
"A vacant lot on Park Avenue across from the park" makes perfect sense.
Much more sense than the a petition to stop TJX from coming to Lordstown.
I'm not opposed to moving the church to the park, and wouldn't sign this petition. But, the vacant lot on Park does belong to the land bank.
Why fill up some of the park with a building and some parking spaces?
What's the land bank's plans for this vacant lot?
Back when Henry Stambaugh first talked about wanting to build Stambaugh Auditorium, he wanted it in Wick Park, but it was shot down because of provisions that the Wick family attached to what could and could not go into the park.
In the case of the Church, the Wick family supports the move.
My question is just how much money will the Wick family be putting into the restoration of the church, and just how much of the park will be used?
There are several religious institutions on the streets facing Wick Park.
How many? Name them and list their location.
