Title: More Toll Roads
Post by: JoyceFarrell on February 13, 2018, 07:15:16 AM
If the President has his way, you will soon have to pay a toll every time you go out in your car for he wants every expresssway made toll roads.

Streets in my neighborhood are all cracked and potholes are starting to form.  Where is the City of Youngstown supposed to get the money to repair our local streets?  The city can't impose tolls and the license plate fees don't really bring in that much money.

I read the article and can't quite find where Trump wants every expresssway to be made a toll road.

It seems he wants states to help with paying to improve the infrastructure. This could clearly add tolls or even toll roads but considering the Ohio turnpike was supposed to only be tolled for 40 years and the state decided to keep it that way (and the price went up) any new tolls would be directly connected to our state government.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slamming Trump. As long as I can remember the Feds; the States and Local government partnered in projects, there is nothing new here.

That being said there are those who expect the federal government to finance everything 100% and that just ain't gonna happen.

Well I didn't know that there is federal prohibition against tolls.

It looks like the federals may end the prohibition, if that happens it will be somewhat there fault when we have to pay a toll to get anywhere in Ohio.
