I'm looking for input from everyone who reads this message. Now that the B&O Restaurant has closed, what could be done with the B&O Building?
Assuming the City can get it back, one idea might be to turn it over to the Steel Museum to be used as a railroad museum. David Tod started a railroad here as did Chauncy Andrews.
If another restaurant can not be found to reopen at this location, the building should be rented to a civic group so that it will be occupied during daylight hours. Having an occupant will prevent vandalism and will insure that the building is heated during the winter months.
BAD NEWS
A fairly reliable source told me the B&O Building was broken into last week and items were stolen.
Blame the City ... the city should have made absolutely sure that the building is protected 24/7. There is absolutely no excuse for this. The Mayor and city officials have a vested interest in making absolutely sure that the building is protected, instead, the Mayor hob-nobs with President Bush while his underlings twittle their thumbs. Everyone knows that sooner or later the building will revert back to the city, and the tax payers will be stuck with the bill.
