Title: Potential Hazard, Standing Water On Roadway
Post by: jay on December 27, 2016, 11:42:04 AM
On several occasions, I've noticed a large puddle of water against the curb on S. Schenley across from Fire Station 15.   The puddle is about five feet wide and ten feet long.  It takes a long time for the water to be splashed away or to evaporate.   The problem is that as freezing weather sets in, the splashed water will freeze on the roadway and cause a ice hazard for cars.

Does this happen often? Where is the nearest storm sewer?

By 6:00 p.m., most of the water had been splashed to the grass beyond the curb or tracked south toward the traffic light.

I just hope that it doesn't freeze.

A storm sewer that was hidden under the puddle has now been unclogged.   The puddle is now gone.
