Should Youngstown city council candidates have to undergo a background check before running for office?

This is one of the questions that the Charter Review Commission has considered.

Yes  especially when they are convicted felon aka Clarence boles.

I feel that ANY person running for public office should be vetted with a criminal background check.

Some people feel that background checks are unnecessary because the media will scrutinize any candidate.   ???

Absolutely. Public office is PUBLIC- If you have something to hide don't run, it's that simple....
