Title: GOP John Kasich = Anti Social Security
Post by: Towntalk on October 11, 2015, 10:36:44 AM
UPI is reporting that REPUBLICAN Presidential candidate John Kasich announced that if he is elected President that he would make major cuts in Social Security and Medicare whether the people liked it or not, and we would have no say in the matter.

I read the linked article and watched the clip, and you completely misconstrued and misinterpreted his remarks.

You know how the government works, and so does Kasich.  He is not planning to unilaterally implement SS cuts without congress.  All he can do as president is propose what he wants to see.  It is up to congress to make it law, or to shrug it off.

I hope that you are right, but based on all that he has done as governor I don't trust him. Look at how Obama is circumventing Congress to get stuff that he would never get if he went through Congress. Executive Orders slide through every day that circumvent Congress but because the Congressmen and their staff do not sit down and actually read the Federal Regester they miss the window of opportunity to stop actions which usually have a 30 day comment period.
