my siblings, frds and I held mda carnivals in my parents yard every summer to contribute to this grt cause. we did it because all of us were brought up to follow JFK'S inaugural presidential speech, "ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY INSTEAD WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU". :D

We all knew that Jerry Lewis couldn't do these telethons forever, but over the years many of the most high paid stars gave of their time, and a large check to boot ... the hotel/casino gave their facility, the behind the scene crew gave their time free, so how did MDA show their appreciation? Kicked everyone in the butt. Local stations gave time free for the telethon, so how does MDA show their appreciation? It slaps them in the face.
