Businesses and residents of Youngstown have to do a better job of removing snow from the sidewalks. On Mahoning Avenue yesterday I observed an elderly woman with a cane walking in the street because the sidewalks had never been cleared. This is unacceptable.
I agree, it is quite unacceptable.
Never going to happen. Remember some of those residences are owned by little old ladies with canes.
The only truly workable solution is for the street department to formally take responsibility for clearing sidewalks. The other option is to just face the fact that in winter the sidewalks will not always be cleared. And in temps below zero, nothing will remove packed down ice short of a jackhammer. Salt is useless
I have to agree with Rick.
