An interesting bit of trivia. As we all know, the building next to the Gallagher Building facing Federal Street was a theater - the Paramount Theatre, but when the 1907 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map was published, the Excelsior Building stood there, and it's second floor was one of Youngstown's earliest theatres and world famous actors and actresses appeared there, one of which was John Wilkes Booth who murdered President Lincoln.

Another bit of trivia concerning the Excelsior Building ... on January 15, 1889, the very first home for the Home Savings and Loan was located in the Excelsior Block.
