It ain't even the middle of November yet on the tele they are already running Christmas commercials and one of the cable channels they're already showing Christmas programs.
Christmas is my favorite holiday of all. But they have commercialized it almost beyond recognition.
Of all the holidays in the year, Christmas is for business the single most important one, bar none, and all of them scramble to maximize their profits so they keep pushing the envelope earlier and earlier. In the process they've cheapened the whole meaning of Christmas to the point where it's more of a secular holiday than a religious one.
If they were to do the same for the most important holiday of any other faith they would have a serious backlash, yet they have no compunction of treating a Christian holiday as an opportunity to get rich, and to that end, they have to a great extent taken Christ out of the day, and in his place put the almighty dollar.
