As one street was being paved today, trucks delivering asphalt were using Wesley Avenue as a way of getting to/from the street being paved. The trucks deposited blobs of asphalt all over Wesley Avenue. The asphalt blobs hardened as they cooled. Residents of Wesley are totally upset and have made calls to the mayor, councilman, street department and others.
I hope the city makes the paving company clean up the mess they made on Wesley Avenue.
I don't blame those families one bit, and hope the Mayor sets it right for them.
They were trying a new concept called "random, uneven speed bump installation"
;D
you get what you paid for in your price.
I work in downtown and drive in through the park. There is now a black trail most of the way that I drive into downtown since they did the resurfacing on the westside-Schenley, Olan and Brunswick. In the past week there has also been asphalt dumped on eastbound Woodland at Market Street and on Market Street Bridge northbound at Front Street. I wonder if it is the same company? It does not appear to be related to the repair work on the bridge.
Where are the council persons ... if past pratice is any indicator, they'll do absolutely nothing about it. Whose wards are these in? I know that the 1st and 4th council persons represent some of those areas, but what about the 5th ward? The West Siders bless their hearts, have every reason to be angry.
WFMJ-TV news ran a story about this mess today.
