Title: 50 Things To Do In....
Post by: jay on June 10, 2014, 05:19:16 AM
The 50 Things To Do List contains locations in Mahoning and Trumbull County.  Maybe it should be renamed "50 Things To Do In The Mahoning Valley"

Possibly.

Also (and I brought this to his attention), he omitted the Stambaugh Golf Course on Gypsy Lane on the north side.
He did add it after I brought it to his attention, so I'm cool.  :D

You know if he added every single thing there is to do in Yo, that list would have been way longer that 50.
While he did include stuff outside of Yo, I think he did a good job on it.

;)

Is it the list that is on the Defend Youngstown web site?

Peggy, the honor of being the oldest golf course goes to the Youngstown Country Club which got its start on the North Side near where Wick Park is today.

Yes I know.  :)   The house I live in now is the original club house for that golf course, built in 1899.
I would really like to see a picture of this house when it was still the club house before it was renovated into a house in 1917.

In my vast collection of historic photos on CD's I hav a couple of photos of the first club house. Unfortunately none are indexed so it would take me weeks to locate them.

Phil did a good job in his posting.

I think I know which house you are talking about - it's on North heights.
The Vindicator archives on Google News search could possibly have some old photos
and articles about the house.
