Title: Sunday May 5th 2nd Amendment Gun Walk
Post by: Lyndz on May 01, 2013, 02:27:28 PM
I'm just finding out that there will be a 2nd Amendment Gun Walk this Sunday May 5th in Central Square / Federal Street at 12 noon. Participants are all concealed carry holders and will have guns.....
This is not a joke... YPD is aware, do not be alarmed.

I don't know, I just wanted to pass along the news. Maybe there will be open carry too, either way don't be alarmed Sunday if you happen to be Downtown, it is a peaceful demonstration.

1. Just because someone owns a gun does not make them a lunatic.
2. Theres nothing in the constitution about burn barrels on a public sidewalk in the middle of a business / entertainment district.

It appears that this event was organized without prior consultation with the Federal Plaza Director.  I've always been under the impression that organized outdoor downtown events needed prior approval and proof of insurance.

What are you afraid of?  Legal gun owners are some of the best people to have around.  You are so prejudiced iwasthere.  It is very illustrative though that you do not make the distinction between law abiding citizens who own guns and street gang members who have illegal weapons, which is quite sad.

I am surrounded by legal gun owners on all sides where I live and I do not live in fear at all.  Actually I feel quite safe in this neighborhood as I know that my neighbors look out for one another.  Legal gun owners have certain traits that liberals will never understand, among them is a desire to protect and defend themselves and those around them.  They also have respect for the law, and they also usually have jobs and pay INTO the system instead of milk the system.   Therefore you could never understand us!

BTW in my neighborhood these people would be welcomed with open arms!  Hell, we'll fire up the grill and before the night is out have a bunch of new friends.  Life is so nice out here away from the libs where we are all still civil to one another.

If this event were to be held in a certain south side neighborhood, then people would be impressed.

Did a little digging, came up with this:

QuoteHandguns only, no long guns.  Open carry is welcome and encouraged

For iwasthere
QuoteNEO Carry does not condone violence, disrespect, or anything that could be misconstrued as disorderly conduct.

iwasthere, this is my neighborhood, I live in the Federal Building. I was more concerned with the children's museum then anything, spoke to the organizers yesterday and asked them if they could steer clear of that area because of booked Birthday parties.

jay, I wish there would have been more notice, the group did not have to get a permit (or else I would have known) they are not shutting down any portion of the sidewalk / and are not meeting in any certain place. From what i can gather they informed YPD so that no one would be alarmed.

Of course they did.  They will cause no disruption and probably leave the area cleaner than when they arrived, just like a Tea party rally does.

You certainly do like dependent, defenseless people iwasthere.  Myself being an independent person who can defend himself must be a real threat to you.  And the fact that I am not a busybody sticking my nose into every one else's business must really get under your skin.

iwasthere,

Why are you so concerned about the demonstration being in front of Lyndz's home? It's not like Lyndz planned it to be in your neighborhood, heck Lyndz doesn't even have anything to do with it.

lynz is the city events planner. this event could had been planned better by this grp by giving lynz more time to prepared the public of this even. it is no personal attack on lynz but i wonder what she could had done better to convince this grp to move their event to the covelli ctr far removed from the hrt of ytown dt. rr you call it busy body but i call it informing the public about any events that is non or hot topics that affects the ytown citizens. rr there are  people on both sides of this issue that are not too wrapped together in which i do not ard me esp in ytown dt.

Thanks iwasthere and whytown. More time would have been nice... demonstrations seem to slip by my desk, especially when its a demonstration / rally that requires NO paper work. In this case though, I would not have discouraged the walk, I just would have liked to let these businesses and residents know what was going on, because, like I said seeing a group of people / heck, just one person, walking around with a gun is a bit jarring...especially if your bringing your child to a birthday party or on your way to or from church.

i heard through the grapevine police chief rod foley gave permission for this rally without going through the proper channels in the cityhall. foley should be horsewhipped for his disregard for proper protocol in this matter.

A group of people are going to be WALKING in downtown Youngstown. They intend to break no laws. They didn't need to ask permission from anyone, they simply let the police know what they are doing so they would know what is going on when they are inundated with calls from the hoplophobes.

why?town no one is saying this grp is breaking the law. will this grp make sure that everyone in this grp show they have a conceal weapon permit to satisfy the ypd. they are doing more then walking or doing a pub crawl. they are carrying guns on their person in the mist of ytown downtown. foley should had told this grp contact lynz to inform her about their rally. foley still needs to be horsewhipped on this matter.

Foley did nothing wrong and Lyndz was aware. People carry concealed weapons throughout the city, including downtown, every day, some do it illegally. This group will be doing so legally. Some of them will be carrying openly which is also legal although not an every day occurrence.

It would be inappropriate to contact Lyndz for this.  It would be just as inappropriate to contact Lyndz if myself and a group of my friends decided to walk around central square.  YOU DO NOT NEED TO ASK GOVERNMENT PERMISSION FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO IN LIFE!!!!! At least not yet.  But I am sure you are working on that!

foley could had inform lynz about this grp convening in ytown dt as a professional courtesy towards her office. foley still must be horsewhipped for failure of not showing professional courtesy towards lynz.

So please give an update.  How many people were assaulted?  How many innocent bystanders did these people kill?  How many of these weapons fired?  Did they cause any altercations?  The answer of course is no and none, because the people who would participate in this type of demonstration are some of the finest upstanding citizens that we have here in this valley.

apparently the news of this event was not worth reporting for the community concerns on the nightly news. as for the people's caliber at this event rr you give them too much credit for them being upstanding citizens. this event, if it took place was no norman rockwell painting.

There were no community concerns save for the opinions of yourself and  couple of others.  Give it up, it wasn't a big deal and you aren't going to be able to make it into one.  All of us except the lefties and the hoodlums either carry already or are fine with those who do.
