Greetings All, Today the start of a neighborhood coalition of owners in the Sheet and Tube Company Homes began. Our site has attracted an investor from Florida that is funding the total and complete restoration of a clay tile roof on Blackburn street and renovating the units. He purchased all but the one owned by our organization and is funding the project out of pocket.
He could have opted to replace the rooftop with shingle but is adamant about keeping the historical facade that made this complex an entry into the National Historic Register. Thank you Mike Bloom for investing in our community and having faith in building a historical district that will bring pride and prosperity to us all.
Also we are proud to announce our first grant has been awarded. We are proud recipients of the YNDC People's Garden Grant and we plan on doing something astonishing with the funds. We applaud all who have received the grant both currently and in the past, but when we applied our goal was to do something far beyond anything that has ever been done so far with a community garden. We will accomplish that goal and do our grantors proud for having the faith and the trust to be the first to give us us the opportunity to show our community what we can do with just a little funding.
Hopefully our success will inspire other organizations to lend their support to this monumentally important project of building a historic district out of our National Historic site.
Our thanks to our friends, neighbors, other responsible owners and to YNDC, we will not let you down.
Best Regards
