A fundraiser for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society will celebrate a tradition unique to Youngstown.
The first-ever "Cookie Tables and Cocktails" event will happen on Saturday at the new Tyler Historic Center in downtown Youngstown.
Friday afternoon judges rated dozens of cookies for a competition featuring more than sixty local amateur and professional bakers. Videojournalist Natalie Jovonovich and Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini both offered up their taste buds to try out the goods.
"Everyone that has come through the doors with their entries has been nothing but positive and excited about it and they all said they can't believe no one's done this before and that they would love to do it again," said Frank Rulli, Event Chairman, "And I think what you're finding is there's a lot of passion for baking and a lot of passion for this tradition."
The event will start Saturday evening at 7 p.m. All the money raised will go toward moving exhibits to the new center.

Remember, this is a fund raising event for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society.
Did they think of selling the cookies to the public after the event for $5/$10 a dozen? They still would make some money on any leftovers.
I agree....I would stop by and buy some!
What do the Cookie Table type events that you support do with their leftover cookies?
What's the deal with you Jay ... the cost or who is holding the event?
