Title: Youth Director
Post by: jay on June 01, 2006, 07:45:13 AM
The City of Youngstown recently announced the appointment of a community youth director.   How does this position change the programs provided by the city parks department each summer?

Below is a recent photo of the ballfield at Buckeye Playground in the Brownlee Woods area on the south side of Youngstown.  The ballfield is full of grass and weeds.   The entire field is overgrown.  Why is this playground being neglected?  Our children can't even play there.

There's no excuse for this. I see city workers on their mowing tracters riding up and down our street several times a day. Why can't the city send one of them over to take care of that playground?

Where can we find more information about the city's youth director and what programs they plan to implement?

YES!
The grass was finally cut this week but look at all those clumps of grass.  It is still difficult to play ball on that field.

The city workers that run the tractors never do rake up after themselves, and they make only one pass. We have a couple of lots on our block that they mow, and the lots don't look much better afterwards.

Where are the volunteers in that neighborhood? Apparently they don't care how it looks.

How many children are there in that area that use that field?
