List of Youngstown Movie Theaters - 1950's

North Side Drive In Theater, Belmont Avenue
Palace Theater, 5 Wick Avenue
Paramount Theater, 142 W. Federal Street
Regent Theater, 239 E. Federal Street
Schenley Theater, 2703 Mahoning Avenue
State Theater, W. Federal Street
Strand Theater, 35 Central Square
Uptown Theater, 2730 Market Street
Warner Theater, 268 W. Federal Street
Wilson Theater, 1043 Wilson Avenue


Look at all the movie theaters we have lost since the 50's.  Only one of the fourteen remains.

   You forgot Lincoln Theater on Himrod Ave.  I saw House of Wax there.

Sorry if this is something that everyone already knew but I found this on the Today in history column in the Youngstown Vindicator in reference to the State Theater...

January 2, 1928: Youngstown's newest playhouse, the State, throws open its doors to the public and before the theater is closed after the last performance of the day several thousand persons see and praise the building's beauty.

You also forgot the FOX Theatre in the Riverbend area. It was one of the Wellman Theaters chain theaters.

I used to love going to North Side drive-in as a kid.  when the weather was warm,  my mom would park in
the back rows and we would sit on top of the car......
