Post by: jay on July 01, 2012, 10:00:00 PM
Some people holding festivals in downtown Youngstown are complaining that parking lots are charging excessive rates during the festivals.

Here is an example.  The permanent sign on the pole indicates that the Saturday and Sunday parking fee is $1.00.  For the Pride Youngstown Festival this past weekend, the parking fee was raised to $5.00.

Hay Jay - have you ever heard of - FREE MARKET ENTERPRISE ???   You know what the market can bear  ;D .  what you can GET for what you GOT.  When I was younger (oh lets say 30 years ago) and Youngstown was still busy - I parked either by First Presbyterian or The Board of Education and sometimes waaaay down on Wood by Belmont.  That is one of the differences between rich and poor - rich people can afford it and poor people have to hoof it  . Convenience is not necessarily FREE or of little cost and parking CLOSE is convenient - wouldn't you say  :D What is wrong with some one making a killing on what they have.  The oil industry does it EVERY DAY  - every day !!!
