The Ethnic Heritage Society hosted Gene DeCapua who gave a fantastic talk on Lansingville and the Slovaks who lived there.  I was very privileged to attend the event and met two gentlemen who are a few years older than myself.  Both of them remember "playing" in a old abandoned coal mine in a area everyone called "Chicken Run" - which now is covered by the freeway in the area of Craiger near the "Boccie Club" - I would put the years they were talking about in the mid 1940's.
