Title: Forum Picnic?
Post by: ForumManager on May 07, 2006, 10:25:19 AM
Hi all,

For a couple of years now I have been considering having a picnic in the youngstown area for  the members of this forum and our companion board -  mahoning valley yahoo group.

I'm posting a poll here to see if there is interest.

It would be potluck...everyone bring something.

If you have any suggestions for a LOW COST location, please post here.  I am leaning toward  Mill Creek Park - one of the pavilions or a cabin might be nice.  Location will  depend on how many people want to attend.

No formal plans yet, no RSVP necessary...just putting out a feeler for interest at this point.

We could use the Riverside Park next to the B&O Banquet Hall.

Do you think there will enough tables in the pubic park area?  The pavilion belongs to the B&O and I already asked if they would allow a pot luck picnic and the answer was no.  They only allow licensed caterers  in order to maintain health standards.

I'd be interested.  But can't figure out how to vote.  I feel technologically inept.

Hi Leah,
Sorry you are having trouble.
I looked over the poll settings to make sure they didn't change with the server move and they are ok.  I also have it set so that guests can vote too.
Another quirk with the move, perhaps?
We might find several glitches over the next few weeks.
I'll look to see if there is an upgrade available for the poll feature.

I would attend.  I could also provide a location for next years picnic at the Tod Engine Heritage Park.   We just bought some additional property and there will be plenty of area there.

OK,

At  least 7 people so far are interested -  It qualifies  as a get together opportunity!

Open to any and all suggestions regarding time frame.  Thinking late August?

Since 8 are showing interest, we can pretty much choose a table somewhere in a park without making reservations!
Lack of interest has its upside!

If you are interested in participating, please let me know by July 15th so I have time to get a place together.

Looking at late August maybe early September for a picnic.

Still plenty of summer left for a picnic
OR
since we only have about a dozen people, perhaps we could support a local restaurant and meet for dinner, instead?

I'll post some tentative dates this week -  I am leaning toward a pavilion in Mill Creek for a picnic, maybe Scholl or Wick Recreation area, so there are things to do for kids - if you'd like to bring them.

Hi All,

I am going to confirm the following tomorrow with the park - pending your  reponse here.

Sunday, September 17th  3-9  -- we can start later then 3.

The pavilion at the Wick Recreation Area, Mill Creek Park

How does this sound?

It is also available on Oct 1st.

Scholl is booked for the month.

Has anyone looked into the possibility of using the Wick Park pavilion?  They have
a VERY nice indoor dining hall and facilities - and there is definitely NO lack of
available space outside.  The outdoor section of the pavilion has enough room
to seat at least a couple hundred people under the roofed portion, with additional
park benches adjacent to the pavilion.

I'll look into it.
I was going  for Millcreek since it is central and very cheap.
Its not like we need a ton of space.... 13 people have shown interest so far.
I even was thinking that we could just  go to a local restaurant with that few.
Title: Will Jay attend our get together?
Post by: ForumManager on September 01, 2006, 12:16:30 PM
Ok, everybody, we need to encourage our biggest poster to attend this get together.
It is my understanding that Jay prefers to remain kind of anonymous.
So let's speculate
Is Jay ...
Jay Williams - posting from the mayor's office?
J. Trafficant  - posting from prison? (is that even possible?)
J. Leno? - He always asks leading questions that you know he has the answers for.
or none of the above
hmmmm
We will never know Jay's true identity unless we get him to attend.
Unless you all want to remain anonymous!!
Now there's a thought.

I think both dates work for me.  However, I would need a ride, depending on location.  Could someone drop by and give me a lift?
