the city leaders wonders why we are always scrapping the bottom of the barrel for cash to run this city. vm is recieving these freebies why do not they pay for couple of police officiers, and teachers in ytown and girard. vm wants an educated workforce they need to come up to the plate.

Why?  They don't need the help.  But if I wanted to build something they would not waive my fees, and I do not have the bottomless pockets that V&M has.  Waive permit fees, grant tax abatements, do anything but actually bring in money to run the city.

It's a lose lose situation for the city. (and any political entity, really)  If they don't waive the fees--which are probably relatively large considering the size of the project--they are being unfriendly to business, and not doing enough to attract jobs.

vm is in this area due to the fracking boom in the northeastern ohio. if the city leaders had a spine they would tell vm what the city wants from them in lure of tax brks instead of it being in favor of vm.

Yea - the way to go would be AFTER V&M puts LOTS of MONEY into the area (stuff that can't be moved and adds value to the area) THEN the city should do like "companies" do when they have made contracts with the unions - tell V&M we need some concessions and ask for some much needed monies for our schools  ;D or "whatever" monies needed by the city  .  Does anyone see anything wrong with that ?   How many companies have we given tax breaks to and the company failed or never really did what it was suppose to do for the tax break they asked for?  These are difficult times and money is tight and V&M is making a handsome profit why not ask ?   Do you think they get a tax break from the FEDS Taxes for the taxes they pay us?
