Besides being known as an infamous gambling casino, what was the Jungle Inn famous for?
A Brothel. Ran by Little Frank Brancato. Shut down in 49-50?
Gee I didn't know about that, but that's not the answer I have in mind.
Dean Martin worked there as a dealer.
True but not what I'm looking for. Try stage shows.
I didn't think anyone would guess the right answer, but from the mid 1930's to the early 1940's the Jungle Inn featured La Cage Aux Folles type floor shows, now, can anyone say what these shows consisted of?
Anything like the Broadway musical, Gay pretending to be straight to impress his sons future inlaws?
Actually they were shows Los Vagas style complete with a live orchestra with the impersonators actually singing and dancing ... no miming to records. One of the few places in America where you can find shows like these is in Los Vargas.
In the 1940's Club Lido on Market Street would have shows like this, complete with an orchestra, but by the 1950's this style of show went the way of Vaudeville.
