The mayor and council have made appointments to the Charter Review Commission.
By what method will the average citizen have input into the charter review process?
I believe any proposed changes have to be voted on and approved by the city residents at the next election.
I and others have suggestions for changes to the charter. How will citizens get their ideas to the commission?
This will require a wee bit of effort, but once the name of the chairman is disclosed, write down your thoughts in a letter and mail them to him via U. S. Mail.
If there is a meeting where public input is asked for don't wait for George to do it, do it yourself. Ask yourself to be heard, and if you aren't prepared to address the commission personally, don't come back here and complain, and above all, don't think for a single second that the members of the Charter Commission will come here for advice. More likely than not, they couldn't care less about what we have to say here.
Watch the paper and TV news for news about it and I'm sure that they will announce when public input will be taken.

Great, but are they on the Charter Commission?
One councilman couldn't take it anymore, tucked tail between legs and went home. I found it quite impressive that an elected official made himself so accessible to the public. It is sad that our elected officials feel that it is beneath them to openly discuss issues on the Internet with their constituents. We all don't have the free time that Jay has, and don't feel that it is worth our time to go to council meetings only to have all important business handled behind closed doors, so we would like other methods of discussing issues with elected officials. The Internet makes that possible, but I suppose politicians would rather remain in hiding and not have to defend their positions. They seem to think that they should be able to make decisions that affect us without the hassle of actually clearing it with those of us who are affected first.

Just because they are public servants doesn't make them our whipping boy. I support the councilman's choice to leave this toxic environment.

the appts made by the mayor do they live in the city of youngstown? scott schulick does he live in the city? i read the names of the individuals that are on the charter review committee, there are a couple of them are civic active in ytown affairs. can someone enlighten me on all charter members about thier civic activities concerning ytown's affairs? ???
