Title: Why Big Box Stores Won't Locate In Youngstown

Could this be the reason why Big Box Stores don't locate in Youngstown?

Youngstown does not allow tents on sidewalks.

;D

Is this where the Occupy Youngstown tent went to?

Of course not!  These people have money.

If memory serves me right, when there were large stores in downtown Youngstown there was no "Black Friday" as we know it today. By the same token the notion of big box stores opening at the stroke of midnight Thanksgiving Day is an even newer innovation.

Even if there were large department stores in downtown Youngstown, the very notion of folks camping out while waiting for the stores to open would be impractical due to the layout of central business districts as opposed to the suburban shopping plazas and malls.

Youngstown use to have several shopping plazas inside the city proper, but I can't recall people camping out to grab up early bargains.
