The Safety Committee had a presentation from a representative of Redflex ( www.redflex.com/html/usa/index.php ), a company that installs  traffic cameras that would be used to capture images of cars running red lights.  The overall objective is to reduce traffic accidents.

One councilman admitted to being caught on camera in Columbus, Ohio recently after going through a red light.

The Safety Committee also discussed the installation of speed humps as a way of slowing traffic on neighborhood streets.  One portable version of the speed hump would cost about $800 and could easily be moved to different locations by a city street department crew.

The topic of traffic cameras dominated the conversation on the Ron Verb show today.
