Title: Councilmen Ask Residents To Attend City Council Meetings
Post by: jay on September 13, 2011, 09:53:33 PM
Fourth Ward Councilman Mike Ray and Fifth Ward Councilman Paul Drennan have asked residents of the west side to start attending city council meetings.

I won't attend any more council meetings until they improve the operation of the meetings.  With all the procedural short cuts, citizens can't understand what is going on during the meetings.

Jay, if this is the case - wouldn't it be worth it to go to the council meeting(s) and explain this problem
to them, and ask for whatever it is you need in order to understand what is going on at these meetings?

They may have reasons for the "procedural shortcuts" to which you are referring, but may just as likely
not realize that the citizens who attend these meetings are confused by them, etc.

You reminded me of another problem with city council.  To address council, you have to ask for permission to speak one week before the meeting and also list your topic.  City council's agenda is never ready one week in advance.
