This cracked utility cover is located on the West Federal Street sidewalk in front of the Federal Building. The cover actually depresses when someone stands on the center.
To make matters worse, the recently installed fence in front of the Federal Building almost forces pedestrians to walk directly over the damaged utility cover.
Have you tried reporting it?? Or are you just complaining??
I will report it to the DPW Monday. I would imagine they can have that taken care of this week.
At least people won't step on the damaged utility cover.
So how many years will that thing stay there before they get around to putting in a new cover?
the new sheriff in town has told his administration and city employees there are no excuses for them not doing their job.
The cone has been there so long that it is now sprouting leaves.
It looks like an Ohio Edison access cover. Have you tried calling them? Or visit them as they are eating lunch in the food court? Or you could just put more flowers in the cone. Just sayin....
Can the city even repair these? If they are "utility covers" then they might be the responsibility of the utility company. (stewie replied while I was typing this, and it looks like they are owned by Ohio Edison)
Somewhat off-topic, but our neighborhood group wanted to install banners on some of the utility poles along Mahoning Ave. We asked the city about this, and were told we couldn't, because the poles were owned by the utility companies. If the "fit and finish" of these poles in the existing city sidewalk is any indication, the utility company doesn't care what their utility covers downtown look like.
it was fixed today.
Thank you Lyndz!
It actually looks as though a larger cover was installed.
