Title: Another Fifth Avenue quiz
Post by: Towntalk on August 19, 2011, 11:18:36 AM
The last one was easy but with this one I'm throwing a curve. Who originally owned this Fifth Avenue mansion?

Clue: He was a prominent local manufacturer. And I'll even be so bold as to show his picture.

I won't give this one away either, but here are some original photos from back in the
day, when this mansion was still new...

Oh... the architect was E. Rufus Thompson

 :( Wrong Allan.

Clue: A YSU building on Wick Avenue across the street from theButler Art Gallery bares the family name.

Another clue: The family Foundation also helped fund the YSU Art Gallery also across the street from the Butler.

The company he was involved with had its main offices in the Stambaugh Building and it was not the Sheet and Tube.

This house sits on the corner of Fifth Ave and Crandall.  The original owner was Diebold Bliss?

The Bliss is right but it was W. E. Bliss.

I was close.   ;D  It is a beautiful home.  The entire second floor is a ballroom.
