Mr. Pinkard was appointed the new councilman for the third ward.
What do north side residents think about this appointment?
They selected Nathaniel Pinkard to replace Jamael "Tito" Brown, who took over as Council President when Chuck Sammarone became mayor. Pinkard is best known as being the Mill Creek Park police chief for 17 years. He worked for the park police department for 28 years.
He said one of his top priorities is regionalization.
"Nobody can afford to be an island anymore. So Youngstown, Austintown, Boardman, even Liberty, we're all going to have to work together if we're going to survive. So yes, I'm a big fan of regionalization," Pinkard said.
Being a cop himself is a bonus. Hopefully he'll put pressure on the local police to get off the duff and start really earning their keep.
As to regionalization, obviously Austintown, Boardman and Liberty won't like his message.
