The Arts Council of Youngstown and Mahoning County recently voted to dissolve the organization. The council, which had an office in the SMARTS Center in downtown Youngstown, served as a coalition for the nonprofit performing arts organizations.
I look upon the demise of the arts council as more evidence that the institutional fabric of our city is still unraveling. If things were as good as some would lead us to believe, an organization with this mission would be growing and prospering.
What did they do? What were their accomplishments? I've heard of them before but can't connect them with any projects.
