Title: "Company Homes and Iron Soup Nonprofit"
Post by: Youngstownshrimp on April 19, 2011, 09:38:19 AM
:) If our true intentions are to preserve and make the Company homes productive again, a vehicle, an organization, should be in place to be the spearhead to this endeavor.  It has been established in this forum that a 501 exist (Iron Soup) and has units as assets.  Because it is also my and my investors goal, we will recognize actions in lieu of words only.  We are requesting a meeting prior to the DECONSTRUCTION PARTY of the trustees and members of Iron Soup.  We are positive that the City is also interested in some type of true leadership in regards to future of the historic homes.

Ron, I have removed the link to the photos and hope that in the future we can post those as before photos with some great after photos along with it showcasing any and all improvements that are being made to this incredible piece of history.

I did by the way respond to your message with an invite to meet with myself and other members of our board of directors to see how we may be able to come to some terms and will be discussing when we can do that with them over the next couple of days. You have the number my friend so feel free to call anytime.

As for why I acted so strongly to this initially? My first year I lost a 120 strong DVD collection, a chain saw that did not even belong to me, a brand new dremel tool set and circular saw and a $600 Super 8 camera that was also not mine when Aaron Abbott, known thief and arsonist, broke into my home while I was away and walked off with everything. I was accused of ripping my own self off because the thief neglected to take an antique guitar of great value. I guess no one figured that the guitar looked old, was not electric and was in a case that looked like a rag muffin. Thieves are not antique dealers and surely not smart enough to realize that a beat up old dusty guitar in a beat up old case could be worth thousands of dollars. I can tell you that over the years, past owners and residents who experienced far less problems than I did ran for the hills abandoning this place as quickly as they could because there only concern was for themselves.

So when I felt that the better interests of the place I have fought and sacrificed what I believe no one else would be willing to do, I lost my cool, but I hope I have made all the appropriate apologies and will do my best to learn from my mistakes. That is what the past teaches us. And it is not like I was the only one. We both said things I am sure we regret and neither of us kept it business like as we should have.

And Aurora was correct, it was my board of Directors that helped me see the light as that is their job, to work together with myself and the other members of the board to look out for the best interests of this neighborhood. I am a little tired though of hearing about the website I left up as  part of my design portfolio. It is not like I am CBOSS with a thousand sites online that I can showcase and say I did this. You don't get many jobs around here as it is, and you get far less when you have a past. I didn't forget to remove anything I simply did not want to as that site was part of my work demonstrating my skills as a designer. For now however it was easier to take it down until I figure out what to do with it. It gets several hundred hits a day though for anyone interested in a popular domain name.

Not to mention that if I had ever discussed any plans such as the ones I was accused of I would not have Mr. Charles Schell, and Mr. William Kish on the board of directors and believe me as both my neighbors and my friends there is nothing I do or plan that they don't know about. I would probably not have as many teeth in my head either and would have been run out of the neighborhood long ago.

I am a person of passion when it comes to my convictions and no different literally than a man defending his family as Chuck, and Bill and most of my neighbors are like my family. We have been through a great deal in the past four years, more than most people can even imagine. All we want is to insure there is no further destruction of these awesome places and that we can continue to improve and move more good people into this place because we are just sick and tired of the bad ones.

I am a hothead at times granted, but it was my boldness and hotheadedness that pioneered this venture. Again, if it were not for my return to this place in 2007 permission would have absolutely been given in 2010 to rip these places down to the ground and there would be no Delmar Row at all for anyone to do anything with as in 2007 the entire place was a vacant desolate hole in the earth.

The past and my mistakes in it, whether they be ten years ago, or ten minutes ago help make me a better stronger person and a better member of my community and my organization. I made a mistake in my actions here, I am sorry for it, I lost my cool and said some things I wish I would not have as did others I am sure, butI hope that we can move on because in the end I am not going anywhere. This is my home and I will continue to work to improve it. This is a big year for us as we finally have our paperwork, we have paint, we have materials and we have some new volunteers. So let's get moving forward in some mutual cooperation.

I can tell you there are many other things I could do with my money than spend the over $250 a year it takes in fuel and supplies to cut the enormous amount of grass that we all help take care of because no one else will. It is also a shame that security cameras are such a must in this area to keep people from breaking into our homes but since they have been installed these incidences have gone done drastically. Our new camera security system, which is internet capable and will allow Campbell PD to check our neighborhood right from the PC at dispatch in the event that a criminal element is on the loose, was a $350 upgrade paid for by yours truly not counting my time and labor to set the system up and program it all,  and if you expect to improve those properties and keep people from ripping off your stuff while you are trying to do it, you might want to consider having me install one for you at least for the backside of the building. The front side will actually be getting some coverage as we move one of the old cameras that were taken down over to 38 Chambers so we can keep an eye out on the front of the Delmar Row.

Of course in today's day and age as I see on the news, Poland and Boardman are no less susceptible to thieves, break ins and home invasions than the rest of us. A statistic that is truly saddening.

So in closing I hope that the 30th is a great success for everyone and again I stand with my organization and will not be part of any negative action against this project.

Best Regards to all

Tim,  I will agree to meet your Iron Soup board anytime prior to the 30th, Teresa has also contacted me advising me of the meeting.  Concerning the Hampton building, I will drive by this morning and take pictures, thank you for the idea of that structure as an alternative to the Del Mar row.  I will keep you updated.

Greetings Ron,

Here are the photos that you requested and I am sure you will see if you go inside that these units are still 100% structurally sound which is of course derivable from the fact that the chimneys are still towering tall and strong above the units undamaged from the fire. Most of the stairwells and other items that needed to be removed are all ready gone and clean up is all that remains to get these units ready for your project.

Micro Farming that area has been a topic that we have discussed for the future of this area, although we were figuring on starting a solar and wind farm before a micro farm, but urban aquaculture definitely has a place in those goals. We absolutely are interested in bringing enterprises, not only to our site, but to our city that will improve our community and produce various beneficial revenue streams. We are happy that we have found a way to put enable this plan to come to fruition, without endangering the section of this site that we are trying to preserve for residential purposes.

Our team is willing to devote our complete resources to help bring this project to reality.

(http://www.haveacause.com/hampton/100_1520.JPG)    (http://www.haveacause.com/hampton/100_1522.JPG)    (http://www.haveacause.com/hampton/100_1524.JPG)    (http://www.haveacause.com/hampton/100_1528.JPG)     (http://www.haveacause.com/hampton/100_1529.JPG)    (http://www.haveacause.com/hampton/100_1530.JPG)

As per our discussions, not having a roof over the building would actually improve the scope of your project so that makes this location even more viable, as we are hoping to reclaim the remaining tiles that are still usable to fix the damaged tile roofs on both Delmar Rows. There is enough remaining tile there to do the big roof on our building and the porch roof of your row. Also this would inspire a greater effort to begin the process and planning and creating a micro farming facility, all of which could be run by the power of the sun and the wind, thus increasing any earning potential to its greatest level by dramatically lowering utility costs. Also you could not get more environmentally friendly than an alternatively powered micro farm.

I look forward to  our upcoming meeting with the board I am sure it will be a great one.

Best to All

Hey Tim,

Thank you for the pictures, I had time to stop by and look at the structures identified as the Hampton Plat.  Thank you for setting up a meeting of Iron Soup board members and I will accept your invitation this Friday.  Although I do understand that your site at the Hampton Plat is a better location and the building is basically deconstructed by fire, there are some initial hurdles that we need to overcome.  Namely, the building is divided into four deeds and as most of the units,  have tax certs. that are held by several investors.  Funding to accomplish any transfer of these deeds are a question.  You mentioned that other units in that area are already deeded to Iron Soup and yes, they can be utilized for aquaculture.  The hurdle right now would be the funding for the units depicted.  As I said from the beginning, I will donate the five units I have to Iron Soup but again funding must be in place for the units to become productive as residential housing.  I am interested in Iron Soup's vision of several of the units earmarked for urban agriculture and the northern units set aside for residential as well.  I will not ramble on about why I feel residential is an uphill battle but I will participate and help with what I know about tax certs. and aquaculture.  There is aggressive financing from the Farm Service Agency for aquaculture and I will share this during the meeting.  These fundings are loans that are based on repayment by production rather than personal debt. so to speak.  The tax certs. is a way to garner many of the dormant units and if what you say is true about tax exemptions for historic structures, I will be interested in carrying this ball to increase Iron Soups leveraging ability with funding.  Again I feel this approach will be easier than residential for now but may lead into revenue and loans for your plan.  Also, I have a meeting with the tax cert. Atty. to discuss all the Company units.

Well I think we are at least moving in a direction that is in the best interests of everyone especially the residents who are still occupying these structures, and the new people who are cleaning up and moving into old units. We will be working very hard to encourage people to use the links at our website www.haveacause.com to get to their favorite stores when they shop online as this is seeming to be more and more a great avenue of funding. Asking people to give of their time and money are always difficult, but asking them to simply get to the store of their choice through our website is seeming to be an easier task. Every link that appears on our site takes shoppers directly to the website of that merchant and when any purchase at all is made our organization gets a percentage of the sale that ranges from a small 2% to 50% in certain cases.

If we could just get people with prepaid phones to recharge them through our Wal Mart link we would have all the funding we needed in a matter of months. I hope those that are following this, and that would like to see some true progress made, not only in this area, but in Campbell and Mahoning County as well will take advantage of our site links when they shop online. No one on either side of this has any bad intentions for the city, we just have to work together to create something that benefits our goals while still looking out for the residents living in this area, and maintaining its historical Value.

Best Regards to all

Well the emails have been sent to all necessary parties at the historical societies on local, state and federal levels in regards to our intentions to renovate the burned out shells on Hampton Street, as well as plans to design orchard areas and other Urban Agriculture systems in and around the unit and the unused land that is going to waste. As stated a good urban agriculture program is necessary in the long term when thinking along the lines of self sustaining communities, but there is a place for everything and we are happy that we have found a better location for urban aquaculture to take root as we would no more want that in the main square area than we would want to turn the park area into a garden of beans and tomatoes. That area will hopefully be an actual park this year where the kids that live right there in the company homes can play in.

It is all one step at a time however and as much as I wish I had the funds to do it all right now, at least now we have a little bit of funds coming in. It is a just a little trickle at the moment, but we know the trickle will become a stream, and the stream a waterfall. The river always beats the mountain, not through strength, but through persistence.

Ron you have been very helpful and cooperative in our mutual efforts and we will be the same in return. We are all very hard working very dedicated people that want to get the job done and see this place be what it was when it opened. The most incredible place to live on earth and it is more than possible. I envision us having quite the community complete with fresh vegetables, home grown food, and some awesome fresh seafood always on hand. At least we will be eating well. Micro farming and Urban Agriculture are a great new mainstay in the US and I am sure everyone has read about the comeback of Victory Gardens due to many peoples ability to not be able to afford fresh fruits and vegetables.

There is enough room in one row of those buildings to produce enough seafood to feed the city at full production, and with orchards and gardens surrounding them the amount of produce and other food that can be produced is staggering. I am looking forward at beginning our work tomorrow after the board meeting.

Oh I will be writing a letter to the city to let them know we are working on what is potentially and equitable solution for all parties and also to ask if CPD would like access over the internet to the new camera system, thus allowing them to look for potential criminals in more than one area, while expending less manpower. We are in favor of our city and not in favor of any activities that would be considered harmful to this neighborhood, the residents, or these awesome historical buildings. As for the row in questions, as a historical building, it is already destroyed, as a solid concrete shell to house urban aquaculture, it is ideal.

I am a little saddened however that when we were at each others throats everyone was commenting and tons of people were viewing, now that we are working together to further all of our goals and hopefully the city of Campbell s as well, we are not as popular. Sad how controversy spawns such interest, while cooperation and a desire to work towards the greater good is just not that interesting.

I only hope that if we do get posters, they follow our lead and keep the positive energy of what we are doing here going.

So now it is a question of getting started. We should have another sit down to figure out how exactly we plan to do a deconstruction party on that row, not including of course the unit owned by the Burkholder group. Will want to be sure to take lots of before and afters though as I feel they need to clean up their area as well if the rest of it is going to be spic and span. If you and I can come to terms in an attempt to cooperate on bringing better things to ourselves and our city, every other owner in this complex should have to do the same, and not ten year from now or four years from now but this year. Something needs to be done about people in this complex that refuse to do anything with these units and are making it difficult for progress to occur due to their lack of concern. Their ineptness has been making our organizations efforts to clean this area up look petty in comparison to the disaster they are promoting.

Despite all that however our progress has been undeniable, and this year we have more to share than ever with new camera systems, neighborhood watch programs, and as soon as mother nature is done having a fit, the refacing and painting of several of the rows that currently are terrible eye sores. I do believe that references to nothing at all being done here will have to cease as you will not be able to miss one or more bright and shiny newly refaced rows.

I am more confident each day that the Hampton Street Row will be among them.

Iron Soup board,

I hope the First two pickup loads of NOS auto parts donated by FirePearl can be the beginning of a good fund raiser for the Company homes.  Speaking to councilman Mike, calmed my fears about the Hampton demolition.  He is going to put together a meeting with Dill and Iron Soup, he also does not see a problem in creating an orchard on the City Jackson street property.  I put a call into David Goehrig of OSU and with Teresa contacting him, we can increase the nut and fruit tree planting scheduled for the shrimp farm.   Ohio Land Management has agreed to provide a backhoe and dumptruck for the Hampton deconstruction party, obviously, we have to reset the party schedule.  Completing your deconstruction project on the Jackson street garages will be expedited with a backhoe and as you advised we will have all the cinder blocks needed for the aquaculture tanks.  I also will be getting a call from Atty. Zomoida, the first tax cert. lawyer, who is from Campbell who Mike knows, I believe we can resolve all the tax cert. problems with the company homes.  Atty. Mike Hoza of CASTLO says you maybe correct on Prop. tax exemptions for historic nonprofit owned real estate.  Well, I guess we are ready and are only held up by the rain.

We definitely appreciate the help from you guys. Once we sort it all out we should be able to raise enough money to complete more than one project on our agenda.

You know I always say, every once counts. We save our soup and vegetable cans here as well as aluminum which helps pay for fuel for mowing in the summer, and ice for the sidewalks in the winter. I even put a video on youtube about how easy it is to make a little extra cash saving not only your aluminum, but your metal cans as well.

A lot of people still laugh and even scowl in regards to our vision of a totally green community and still the biggest question is why there. I have to restrain myself when I hear these things. Go build yourself just one duplicate row that stands today in Campbell Ohio and see how much it would cost you. Go price tile roofing one time. My main roof over my apartment is almost 100 years old and does not leak and has surely only had the absolute minimum maintenance if that, in the past 35 years.

If that is not enough of an incentive to use these buildings for something productive, here are a few more facts that any good architect can surely verify.

If the Earthquake that devastated Haiti would have hit Campbell we would be all that is left of the city, and still alive and well thanks to the protection of our incredibly well structured buildings.

If a tornado on the scale of that which is referred to as The Finger of God would hit the city, again all that it would touch would be gone except for us. Granted our tile roofs would not fair as well as the buildings themselves but they would survive.

It is like wanting to build a windmill and you already have everything you need except the prop.

All we have to do is add the prop the windmill has already been built for us.

I am glad to see a new wave of potential and cooperation that will hopefully see that something is done to realize the vision of the ultimate Green Community

To Ron and Bill, thank you for the opportunity you have given us to prove just how dedicated we are. Ron does not hand out donations, is not a fan of grants, and is a guy who can get in the trenches, so when he gave us a donation, he did not hand us a check, he handed us an opportunity to make some money for our organization, no strings attached, just to see where we would go with it.

Our first receiving phase of this donation has been completed and we have inventoried and categorized 380 parts so far and have developed a four phase plan to produce the maximum amount of revenue for our organization in the minimum amount of time. Here are a couple photos of what we will be selling at an upcoming Ebay Auction once everything is moved and inventoried.

(http://haveacause.com/auction/sm_clock_1.jpg)     (http://haveacause.com/auction/sm_wiper_1.jpg)      (http://haveacause.com/auction/sm_wiper_2.jpg)

This auction will be a couple weeks away at least, as there are a ton of items we still have to get, literally, and still have to move and inventory. In the meantime we will be making announcements here, and on our other portals in regards to sales of basic every day items on Craig's list. Of course we are keeping a complete photographic and written inventory that we will be able to match to our sales records. We hope everyone will view all of our items as we post them. We have done our homework and will be offering the best deals on some common auto parts. Anyone who does repairs, has a garage, or is in the automotive business should keep an eye on this. I may even open another post under the appropriate heading as there is a lot of opportunity here to pick up some great items at a great deal.

The Ebay auction will consist of those items that are worth paying fees to sell at auction. Rare, Antique, Hard to find extremely popular items, and things we have huge bulk lots of will be the majority of our auction items. I perceive that some of the inventory may go to a local swap meet sale depending on what all us is in this inventory. There are two many items at this point to speculate.

I do believe there will be many gems in this deal, but we have to work to extract them just as someone with a sleuth would  do to find their gold. We are all for working for what we get.

To our donors, we appreciate this opportunity to show you what we are made of. Not to say that enjoying some good honest work to make some money for our organization will discourage us one single bit in terms of continuing to apply for the same grants and opportunities that every other non-profit in our great Nation is entitled to apply to, but it will show that we are not only afraid to work, we embrace it.

Considering that in four years we have collected a whole $926 from our three donors, this is already going to be our largest contribution on record. If you only count what we have received officially since the formation of our company, that number is only $326. The rest we received in 07 in our first year here.

A real infusion of cash is something that has been lacking in this endeavor from the beginning, one of the reasons we still have property in limbo that has not yet been transferred, when you are barely making what you need to keep the grass cut, and still eat, deeds, titles, transfers and even taxes sometimes take the back burner. We do however make a dent in all of those categories a little at a time each year. Assuredly this year will prove to be able to straighten out all of those issues.

Our team is on this project with a fury and I think you will be beyond impressed with the performance of the fine individuals I have helping me pilot this ship. Obviously a challenge is not something we are afraid of, just look at what we have chose to save. We want to benefit ourselves, and our city, our neighbors, and our community. We stead fast however that Green Communities are not only the way of the future, they are the only way.

We would not screw the oil plug from the bottom of our vehicle then drive around with an empty engine, but we have no problem poking every hole we can in the oil plug of earth. What is it now, statistically in the increase of earthquakes, and the whole we didn't have the technology to tell argument is dead because the new stats are from the 80's till now. Totally accurate recording of almost all quakes on the planet have existed from then until now and it don't look good. You are pumping the lubricant for the tectonic plates out of the ground and into your grid. Gas, Fuel Oil, Plastics, compounds and the list goes on. That's right by the time it runs out we will all be dead, who cares about our kids, it's their problem. Glad I care about mine more than they care about theirs. What happens to our generations future IS ALL OF OUR PROBLEMS.

I just wish there were one person out there who gets it, that had the guts to post here, other than our board members who, since we are not killing each other are allowing me to continue this forum LOL.

Thank you again gentleman, your opportunity will insure we have fuel for the machines and equipment, not only to do our mutual project, but to accomplish many of our other goals we have set forth for our organization.

Best Regards
Tim Sokoloff

Title: Re: "Company Homes and Iron Soup Nonprofit"
Post by: Tim Sokoloff on April 24, 2011, 08:15:36 AM
Hey, you never know, we have found all kinds of interesting parts so far, and a few come up online as not being automotive. No Space Shuttle Parts yet though. I will cross reference just in case LOL.  I kept the numbers that were on the boxes and tagged them to the items. so hopefully Bill will have that list. It will help a lot. If not that just means some hours of research, sadly much of which was probably already done to make the original list. Also I will have a CD for you when everything is moved with a complete picture inventory and an itemized list which will be quite extensive.

We just want to get the Buzz going so to speak and generate some interest so we have lots of visitors when our listings begin. Also, we feel it is imperative to have all the parts here and categorized, especially with items that will go on Ebay. It has been my experience over the years that one large auction fairs better than several small ones. Most buyers, if they are looking at one item you have up for sale, will look at your other items as well.

Not to mention that as I said, it would do us more good to raise one lump sum at an Ebay auction, than to spend time running several of them. We have much to do, such as needing a new lawn mower. I know our riding mower will make another summer, but we are down to one old weed eater, and no push mower at all whatsoever. Thanks to you guys though I see one in our near future.

I am looking forward to busting out the old Welder on Monday and getting to work on that equipment. Mahoning County will be thrilled to see the site where our garages are completed. We have made tremendous progress on it doing it by hand, but one halfway good backhoe would get the job done in a day or two.

Ron I truly am glad we are working together instead of against each other. I knew once you spoke with all of us and really took a good look at our goals and plans that you would find some wisdom in it. In that spirit, after we spoke with you, looked at your plans and really thought about how it fit in with our goals of creating an agricultural area here at the site, we have found great wisdom in your ideas as well.

I hope everyone is learning something here. No matter what the debate, the dispute, or the problem, if you stop arguing and start listening, not only to each other, but to your advisers and partners, a solution can always be reached that can serve the needs of everyone.

The folks I approached to be on my board were done so cause they are at least as skilled, and some much more so, than myself. This is a serious project that is slowly coming to fruition and is not only to grand in scale, but to important to be in the hands of any one person. It was a team of people that were involved in conceiving, designing, and building these units, it will require a similar team to restore them, especially to a totally green community. Thank you again for your and your teams assistance to further our mutual success.

Best Regards
Tim Sokoloff

Attn:  Iron Soup board,

This is the machine and dump truck which Ohio Land Management (OLM) will dispatch to be used during the Deconstruction Party.  The machines can be used to deconstruct the garages, load the blocks and stockpile for fish tanks.  The dump can move the debris and deconstructed material, the backhoe can dig the holes for planting the fruit and nut trees at Iron Soups new orchard.

As you know to accomplish all this in a day or two, your suggestion of getting the MVOC , Trees Pleeze and Grow Youngstown to assist may take care of supplemental labor, if they are up to tough work like this.  This project is going to take a lot of butt busting and although your crew I see is able, please find out if the the established entities can handle something like this?

Nice Set up, hopefully we can get some welding done today, but I doubt it. I got tarps though and we can move more parts. Whatever it takes. I am hoping to see items go on sale this week. This grass is growing like crazy and we can't catch a break with mother nature but there are lots of other things to be done. I hope everyone had a great Easter Weekend. Ours was very nice. We opened the apartment we use as our meeting center and hosted a dinner for our neighborhood. Everyone had a great time. We have a digital projector that is great for putting our Wii bowling on the wall of our game room in Life Size fashion. We don't get to do this very often but every now and then you have to take a break. All work and no play makes one go nuts.

It's back to work now though. I will contact those organizations to see what they are willing to do for us when we have our dates set also.

Again Ron, we are all very thankful for your help and will return that in spades. Anything that involves positive productive forward movement in relation to our goals is something we are all for and will work to attain. As I sit this morning and look at the Sustainable Communities Design Handbook on my desk and read my news feeds regarding the designs and efforts of others attempting to do the same thing we are all across the world I see more an more how our designs overshadow what is currently being done. We truly have an opportunity to be leaders in the field of Green Community designs. To set the bar that others follow is something our community use to be noted for and it should be that way again.

Looking forward to setting a date for that Deconstruction Party and making some new history for others to preserve a hundred years from now.

So Iron Soup, when do we reset the Deconstruction Party?

Hey Ron, I wanted to post last night but was cutting grass till the sun went down, then we had a little bonfire as there is still a ton of bushes and wood that someone dumped behind that row on Delmar that we had to clean up. We have a bunch across the street that has to go as well, but all in good time.

I am thinking that we should shoot for May 14th. We can all be ready and have everything we need in place by that date so lets go with that.

Again Ron thank you for all you help and WOW THANK YOU A MILLION FOR THE HILTE EQUIPMENT.

Mr. Ron Eiselstein has donated a box of Hilte guns that are capable of holding liquid concrete, roofing tar and other great compounds that will now enable us to reface chimneys and stink pipes on the tile roofs in mere minutes, which was a job that before would have taken many hours, even more than a day in some cases. These guns enable us to seal under and around the tiles without having to move or displace them. Also with the guns were several boxes of concrete cement which will be invaluable.

Later today we will begin putting links on to our SALE ITEMS. We have sorted out and identified enough parts to start a listing on Craig's List. Again, thank you and Bill both for not only the donation, but for your help in moving and sorting it all out.

It is time to do something great here in Mahoning county and let people know just how much you can accomplish with hard work and dedication.

Wow,
You gotta wonder what the deal is with this. Here is the last link to get to the Craig's List posting.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/pts/2350138118.html. (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/pts/2350138118.html.) , this is a little ridiculous. The Seattle posting was fine until I put the link up on here. The posts are being removed because they are being flagged as duplicates. We changed the order the parts were in and it was fine, but one by one they have been removed. Since there is only one post left there should not be any further problems in regards to duplicate listings.

Anyway, I am going to create multiple listings with totally different parts on each one, then we can post them in multiple cities all at once and cross link them. This will eliminate the problem of the posts being removed for being duplicates. No matter how many lemons people throw at us, we will still make great lemonade.

We will be putting some more listings together today and when we have 6 or 7 different ones we can do a new set of postings that will not at all be similar to each other.

There are a lot of ways to sell items and we are going to explore all of them. It is imperative to us to change these parts into funds we can use to move this project forward. A good portion of the first one of funding will surely go towards fuel for the machines to clean up the Hampton Row. Not to mention our general landscaping needs which have increased with the addition of some new properties, not even considering keeping the Delmar Row and the park area cut as well.

Ok its back to work.

Well here it is, the new Iron Soup Website went live tonight along with a listing of the parts we have identified so far. We will have more in the next couple days and are doing it so we can break the listings up in order to post in multiple cities on Craig's list without having anything that is a duplicate listing while still providing a link to our main inventory.

http://www.haveacause.com (http://www.haveacause.com) includes information regarding our Urban Agriculture goals, a link to our Auto Parts inventory, a listing of our board of directors, information about the company, news events past and present, and will soon include a link to a very detailed set of plans in regards to our self sustaining apartment unit designs everyone has heard us talk about. Comments opinions and concerns are always welcome but please contact us through the website as we do not want to turn this into a forum to discuss typos.

Lastly it includes a little sneak peak at our Camera System that we will be offering use of to the CPD once we have it all set up for over the internet use. We can view the system wireless anywhere in the complex while we are still on our own network, but after it is all programmed anyone with the correct login information can view it from anywhere on earth. Of course the installation set up and programming are all being done by yours truly and I do all our web work as well.

Kind of sad that a guy who can do all that, and who assembled and operated the portable welding unit we used on the backhoe, can't get a job at a burger joint don't you think?

Anyway I pulled out all my bags of concrete, and I am ready for the refacing and painting of 21-31 Delmar and will be continuing to list parts, and get ready for the deconstruction party as well. Anyone want my job? I don't think there are two many people that are up to it.

Thanks again man, you really came through by the way. I definitely agree we can accomplish some incredible things working together, both at the company homes site and elsewhere as well. Money may not be my motivating factor, but I am not a fool. I know a good concept when I see it and certainly believe there is a ton of money to be made in Urban Agriculture, especially in the realms of Aqua-Culture.

I still hold true to the opinion that everything has its place though and am glad that the unused land an building that would otherwise go to waste or be destroyed can be reclaimed for what we consider to be an outstanding purpose while leaving the area allocated for residential units intact. Ironically, after all was said and done, your idea complimented our initial plans in ways we did not even foresee. Now we are all working together to make many great things happen not only at our complex but across the county as well.

A lesson to all I hope.

Best Regards

Good News for Iron Soup!  MVG autoparts in Struthers wants to link and access the NOS autoparts.  They are one of the few independents still around and should be able to sell many of the parts.  I gave them the website to view inventory.

Awesome News.

I am just finishing up the refit of that computer you sent us. I had to go in and look up the mother board to get the drivers but it is all looking good now and I will be putting the camera system software on shortly and if we can get video on the monitor with this newer PC it will be time to set up and test the internet capabilities of the system.

After that it will be time to go back to inventorying auto parts. Everybody tells me I need to take a couple days off, I think I would rather slam my head in a car door LOL. I wouldn't know how to do that. I would go nuts if I had to do that. Looking forward to getting a big section of inventory posted today. The more we have listed, the better our chances are of generating some much needed revenue.

We still need a push mower, come on folks this post has been read over 400 times and no one out there knows where we can at least BUY a half decent one cheap? Still amazed that Ron and I are the only ones commenting here so far.

Agreed also Ron that it will be interesting to see who all will step up to help when we have our deconstruction party. I certainly know that our people will be out in full force along with some of their friends and family. You are right in what you say about organizations that have received so much and done so little while we have received so little and done so much. I won't open the door to another big online battle by naming anyone specifically, but there has not been any flood of support in our direction. I can say that our local Councilman, along with Tyler Clark and a group of his associates were very helpful our first year here, and our Councilman is still on our side and wants to see both our goals furthered as he feels it will be beneficial to the city so that is good.

This week we will be asking a lot of people to come out and support this endeavor in 2011 though as things have come a long way since 07 and we have more than paid our dues in time, our own money, labor you name it. And of course every challenging question I put up here has not been disputed so we must assume that the statements must be correct. The plan we have is not only feasible, it is near perfect. We have the best site, the best structures to start with, and a premium location in so many ways.

As I have said from the beginning of all of this though, we are not doing this to make money, we are not doing this for notoriety,  we are doing this because it NEEDS TO BE DONE.

As for myself and Chuck we have more of a vested interest in this project as this is our home, but Bill, Teresa and the rest of our board do not have as much at stake, but certainly have done their part to help us move ahead and then some. We mean whole heartedly what we say about our financial goals our organization has. The money we raise from the proceeds of this sale will speak volumes in regards to our dedication to doing the right thing.

To many people are worried about "What's in it for me?" instead of how much of themselves they have put in it. It is sad how we have all forgotten how and why the US was ever formed in the first place. We are the United States because WOW we were actually United at one time. Now we are a Nation of every one for themselves. Have you asked not what your community can do for you, but what you can do for your community lately?

As for why we are fighting so hard to save these units and turn them into a green community? Not only do we get to preserve a great piece of history and revive the community in the true spirit in which it was created, but maybe we can be the example that other new communities will follow so we don't end up like this

http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/earth-2100-final-century-of-civilization/ (http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/earth-2100-final-century-of-civilization/)  . In the ABC documentary, that I am sure very few people bothered to watch, a true look at what we have in store for us can be seen. So many people brush this sort of thing off, but unless you can tell me that 2 + 2 no longer equal four then things don't look good for our future unless we start making some serious changes.

You can ignore, discount, refute or just plain not care about the continually mounting problems we have created for our civilization but none of that will make any of them go away.

What would we all do if there were a terrible disaster here in our valley like that of Japan or Haiti? Japan's dependance upon Nuclear Power for their county has proven to be a disastrous mistake of epic proportions. Their food, water, air and land are all tainted now and will be for generations to come. Do you know that Chernobyl is STILL AN ABANDONED THAT REQUIRES SPECIAL PERMITS TO GO INTO BECAUSE OF RADIATION LEVELS.  In the near future when they reveal the truth about the damages, and the implications created by those damages I am sure that it will be mind boggling.

Mother Nature can take you from the top of a mountain in a house made of gold and set you at the bottom of the ocean in a pile of rubble in one quick swoop. What do you do when there is no power, no open stores, and no gas pumps that are running to go fill up your tank?

In 2009 the area in and around the company homes lost power for eight days. I understand there were some areas in other parts of the state that were even longer. Our team however had nominal operating power throughout the crisis and were able to provide minimal power to some of our nearest neighbors to run refrigerators.

Today we are even more prepared to look out for not only ourselves, but or community as well. If our plans for renovations do reach the maximum potential we be fully capable of assisting hundreds of individuals in the event of a tragedy. I mean if you are all going to continue to screw the planet up totally in the name of profit shouldn't SOMEONE be prepared for the consequences.

Go outside to your driveway, get under your vehicle, pull the oil plug out and let everything run down your driveway, then DRIVE TO CLEVELAND!

Oh you wouldn't do that to your car, but we are all OK with doing it to the planet. Oil lubricates the Tectonic Plates PERIOD! Plates that are dry now because there is insufficient, or no lubrication at all to keep them from violently rubbing together are causing turmoil on our planet and it is only going to get worst. Of course we all could care less, until it hits us, then everyone will be wailing like a bunch of hyena's crying WHY DID THIS HAPPEN, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?

As much as I hope this is never the case, chances are we will see these things happening more and more as the next few years go on.

In either case, a totally green community always wins. In our scenario when our units are complete we will be completely powered by the earth and not only will we be free of utility bills, we will be collecting a check every month from First Energy for selling our excess power back to all of you who are not going to be so fortunate.

On the other side of the coin, if the Fecal Matter hits the Rotating Oscillator (LOL everyone grab your dictionary's) we will be standing safely behind the fan blades instead of in front of them.

Ron you are right, people hate the doers. When you stand up and actually be part of the change that needs to happen, instead of being part of the problem the problem people come out of the woodwork to come after you.

Well I got to get back to inventorying parts.

Best to all

We have Purolator, Gates, Power Belt, STP, Anco Wiper and so much more already on site at www.haveacause.com (http://www.haveacause.com) completely researched with links to every available application for each part and a link to the best price we could find on the web. Bottom line, if you are a mechanic, garage, or vendor you can buy common filters, timing belts and more at below 50% of retail for single items and over 80% off retail if you are buying in bulk.

We are sincerely hoping to sell in bulk but every dollar counts. We need new lawn equipment, fuel allotments, and more which this sale will surely help achieve. In comparison to internet pricing if you are buying in bulk we are just about giving this stuff away.

Please pass on our site link to any and all auto parts enthusiasts and keep in mind the list will grow almost daily.

Hello, well we have not disappeared, we have just been very busy now that some warm dry weather finally arrived.

Ron you should take a look at the great job the Hilte equipment you donated did on fixing the concrete corner that had eroded, which held up the main beams for the roof we are restoring. We have posted complete photos of the restoration all the way from the beginning of the project at http://www.haveacause.com/roof.html (http://www.haveacause.com/roof.html) and it is incredible.

We first had to remove BY HAND the almost 650 clay tile weighing in at a little over 6.5 pounds each. These had to be carefully removed as you can not break the tile, or the TABS which hold them in place. Also we came to discover that not every tile received a nail (copper nails originally) so that the roof could Flex so to speak, when the ice and snow from the main roof would fall on it. Interestingly enough, there were two buffer systems built in to absorb the shock of such occurrences.

After that we totally removed the damaged section, fixed the bad boards across the rest of the roof, re-felted the whole thing and have restored over half the tile back on the roof already. Now we are putting up the new trusses, finishing off the new main beam, and of course, the concrete repairs.

To even try and fathom the work that went into just this one small porch roof, not to mention that TWO TYPES OF SPECIAL NAILS HAD TO BE PURCHASED FOR A TOTAL OF $125, just to do the work, is more than most people would ever even consider.

Consider this though. Even DAMAGED, with ice and snow beating on it for at least two decades, the tile remained and the roof DID NOT COLLAPSE. It was actually quite sturdy even in its damaged state and was a feat to dismantle.

We do our own work, we fund our own expedition, and we get the job done. I stand proud when I say that our organization has accomplished more with NOTHING, than many other have who have been given thousands of dollars.

Its all good though as we continue to build our database of donated parts that will go on sale this summer once we have them all listed, and we will show folks how to get things done. We don't pay salaries, give out bonuses, or allow for extravagant expenses with our funds. We put them to work for our organization.

See where I come from, when you work for a non - profit organization you do it because you believe in the work you are doing, not because it was a good career opportunity. All these people that have been caught abusing the funds from the Till of good will so to speak are deplorable. If you really believe in what you are doing, you do it for free, and you give of yourself to promote it and move it along. You don't do it so you can collect a big paycheck or look good in the public eye.

We estimate being able to make a few grand from our parts sale once it gets going and be assured that every single penny will go straight to making every goal in our mission statement a reality.

Our thanks not Only to Ron and Bill at Fire Pearl, but to all the folks who are working with us daily to realize the vision of a totally green community. Special thanks to Dave from OSU for coming out and informing us on how to get an Orchard started here in our complex.

Every day is a new day and we move forward on each and every one. CHECK OUT THE PHOTOS AND DISCOVER A WHOLE NEW WORLD IN ROOFING.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Best Regards
Tim Sokoloff

So here is the update. WE ARE ROCKIN AND I DARE ANYONE TO SAY THERE IS NOTHING HAPPENING IN THE CAMPBELL COMPANY HOMES NOW!

How about a non profit with NO MONEY FROM ANYONE who is totally re inventing a neighborhood. Oh and I would like to point out that every one of the hard working talented people that are working here now are here because they choose to, not because they have to. Some folks believe they are somehow smarter, more capable, or somehow more talented in business because they were able to utilize "free labor" which in all honesty if people wanted to actually work, they would not have been available for that "free labor" program in the first place.

I am proud to lead an organization of dedicated loyal volunteers who all work as a team to achieve a common goal as opposed to an army of those who despise that they have to be here. I will take one good dedicated volunteer who wants to actually work over 100 deadbeats who I have to watch constantly to make sure they are doing their jobs any day.

So to those naysayers that would believe they are business guru's, who is the smarter person, the one who people come to volunteer because their business model is so strong, or the ones who had to use forced volunteers because their business model lacked what it takes to inspire people to participate freely?

Everyone here is like myself. Uninterested in profit, but totally interested in progress, and in restoring this to a neighborhood while building it into the first truly self sustaining community. We work our butts off in this place from sun up to sun down and along with all the other improvements we are making our first Solar Powered Street Lamps will also be up and running before the end of August as well.

WWW.HAVEACAUSE.COM (http://www.haveacause.com) HAS EVEN MORE PHOTOS AND EVEN MORE INFORMATION ON WHERE WE ARE GOING AND WHAT WE ARE DOING AS WELL AS WHAT WE HAVE DONE.

Here are some great updates. Painting, plumbing, electrical and much other work has been done in the short time since I last wrote here as well as more progress on our building restoration. We will be getting our main office complex completed with another brand new 200 amp service online and it will be done before the end of August.

I hope you will all come out and join us this weekend though as we take the huge amount of auto parts we received from Ron and his Partner Bill at Fire Pearl to the Dave and Eds Swap Meet at the Canfield Fair Grounds. Their donation will be a tremendous help to us as we know the parts they gave us will enable us to generate not only revenue, but more interest in what we are doing. We can not express how much their help has meant to us.

We will have our crew on hand selling parts while we promote our cause and hand out slips to encourage people to visit our website and VOTE FOR US on Webbie World as the #1 most popular website. More details can be found on our website.

Although I did not get a chance to announce it here, we had a benefit car wash on Sunday July 10th. Our thanks to Dennis and Carol at Four Seasons Flea Market who always allow us to come out to the market and promote our events. Dennis has been a tremendous supporter and advocate of us since the very beginning. We would not be this far ahead without his help. We will be having another car wash happening soon and will try to announce it here, but it is best to visit our website for the most current events and fund raisers being held.

Our new Iron Soup Website which will rest at our companies namesake domain will be released before the end of July and will reveal advanced blue prints regarding our remodeling and power designs as well as our plan on how to occupy the units after they are completed. A more detailed look and explanation of the technologies will be included.

Lastly Iron Soup would like to thank Ron Eiselstein for all his help, the donation him and his partner made in auto parts and his personal donations of Hilti Tools as well as the computer and for all his help in assisting us in putting together other future events that will help us raise money. Ron has been beyond helpful in moving us forward and we appreciate all he has done.

Of course if you know Ron you know that he does not give of his time, energy, or anything else for that matter unless he is seeing some results. We would like to post more info, pictures, and other stuff as well as work more on our web sites and such but this is summertime, we have a whole new crew and we simply don't have time to play on the Internet. People help us because they know we are what we say we are.

I don't think there are many other organizations that have accomplished as much as we have with no grants, no monetary donations, and no outside funding at all whatsoever. Our total fundraising activities since May of 07 when we didn't even know what we were doing yet has been $1,023 approximately. Now we hope to change that this weekend at the Swap Meet, and continue to improve as we hold more fund raising events and promote some of the opportunities we already have going, but that number doesn't cover the cost of landscaping this place for a summer.

If we could get more people to click on our links at our website, such as Walmart, or Game Stop or Pet Smart to get to the stores websites, and I know that people who read this use those sites, someone has to be shopping online that is here reading online. Would it be so hard to go to our site first and use our link to get to the store? Apparently it must be because no one is doing it. Every time you click a link on our site from one of our sponsors, and make a purchase they send us some money. You go to their site, you pay the same price you get the same deal, you just use the link on our site to do it, and they take care of the rest.

We are trying to keep up with taking picture of the work we are doing outdoors and get it on the website, we have taken no real photos of the work indoors as we just have to get it done and move on. Our office needs finished as does our electrical and pluming upgrades so we can get our crew comfortable and our operation a little more organized.

I just want to know when we are considered to be making progress. Just how much do we have to do to be moving forward. Considering that no one has ever done anything in this place in the past 20 years except collect rent and make money of the buying and selling of the units, I think we have made more progress than anyone.

Well I have already been on here to long, but I had to update the website, and get the job done so we are ready for this weekend. I hope to see you at the Swap Meet.

Best Regards
Tim Sokoloff

We appreciate that you all took notice of our coverage. Our fund raising event at the Canfield Fair did ok. We still have lots of auto parts but we are mothballing them until the cold weather comes. We will be putting the funds we raised to good use and if you drive down through the neighborhood you will see improvements being made to all of our units on Delmar and Chambers. There is much more work that needs done but we are not in a position to work on units that are not in our names but we will continue to improve ours and hopefully this will enable our city and county officials to put even further pressure on absentee owners and those who simply don't care to either do something with their properties or sign them over.

Thanks to all for the positive comments, it means a great deal to us.

We are hoping to have a benefit car wash this weekend on Saturday at noon. Our last one did ok so we figured why not. The auto parts sale was a good success. We only took one third of what we had and sold a little over half of it. Even the parts that became rusted and unusable that we found in the mix as they had sat for quite some time, will generate us revenue as we are avid recyclers so nothing goes to waste. Our 200 pounds of junk parts will be worth $13.40 per hundred pounds when we last shipped a load.

The revenue generated over the weekend has gone to purchase a major electrical upgrade in our main complex, a demolition hammer and a hammer drill, all things we had to previously rent when we needed them. Our thanks again to Ron and Bill at Fire Pearl, you guys Rock! We will always leave the light on for you guys LOL.

I just hope that our site being on the endangered species list will help us out. Soon some preliminary designs that we have  created in regards to new environmental technologies will be up and running and we are moving forward more this year than ever before.  We have the people, the plan, the technology and the ability, we just need some people to go to our website and use our links to shop online. That one simple seemingly meaningless little act of clicking a link before you shop can change the scope of our endeavor greatly. www.haveacause.com (http://www.haveacause.com)

Our thanks to all our crew we have know for preforming more and more admirably every day, and for those who don't, they get voted off the island LOL. Again our thanks to our benefactors, especially Ron Eiselstein, for their tremendous efforts to forward our cause. We hope that considering how Ron and I started out here that we serve as an example to everyone on how to work together to make great things happen in our community.

Today was a good day as we immersed ourselves in the joy of modern technology. Our new hammer drill proved to be worth every penny, and thanks to another great supporter we have cases of lubricating oil to spray while we drill. Combine that with new 1/4" Bosh concrete bits and it was a lot easier to drill into the concrete. Previously if we had to drill into the buildings to do anything, even mount a bathroom Medicine Cabinet, it was a major chore as each drill hole took several minutes and tore up drill bits very quickly. Now we move much quicker and with the oil it seems we have cut back considerably on how long it takes to make improvements to the units.

Many of these places have been vandalized and the crooks cut the main water lines even with the concrete. To put water back on in one of these units before would have been a nightmare, one we have not attempted yet. Now however this is a very fast job. Also to put a new trap in under the tub meant going through 2 1/2 Feet of concrete to get to it as they poured the floors over the trap AND PIPES, and then poured another floor over top of that. Lets just say it is ridiculous, but now we can bust out that floor space in no time, put in all new PVC and we think we are going to install a box with an access panel, then pour new concrete around and even out the wall and floor again. You would think this would have been done originally, but they did not figure for accessing or fixing the pipes in the future.

It goes to show that even some of the best designs have flaws.

Thanks again to all our supporters, and our few contributors, and of course our crew. It seems we are finally making some real progress.

Wow seriously I have to wonder over 1200 reads and no one is using our website links to shop online. .....

More pictures will come and more progress will be made as always and I am thrilled that so many people are keeping up with us but if you watched the news you know we are and endangered species and the bottom line is it takes people to actual give a damn and just help out. www.haveacause.com and we hope to have a better site up soon but here is the link to all the stores that are helping us out and if you buy from one of them drop us a line and we will make sure they are doing what they say because our website numbers are just not cutting it.

http://haveacause.com/mall.html (http://haveacause.com/mall.html)  please recharge your phones at walmart, look for stores you know and love and just use our site to get to your favorite stores. We are going to do an update of our shopping center soon as our offices are much closer to being done and we have a tremendous crew now.

We have done so much with so little for so long we now feel we are capable of doing anything with nothing.       Great Quote Author Unknown.   Please use our links to shop online.

We started out with a bang, but with no help and no interest and a neighborhood full of those who could care less, most of which wished we would go away, and made their best attempts to make that possible, we are still here and now we are repainting buildings, putting in new electric services, painting both inside and out.

This is the most work anyone single entity has done in this site in 25 years for sure with the exception of Mr. Bill Kish our new VP who does an outstanding job of maintaining his units as well as the integrity of our goals as an organization, and the safety and security of our growing neighborhood as well.

Again I say, we will build the world's first ©Envirominium here in Mahoning County and yes folks it is our copyright on the word. And before the year is out some preliminary plans of how to build the most incredible apartment in the world will be up on our site as well.

But if you had to do as much work as we do you would know that all this internet stuff is better when its cold outside so that's all for now as I have an incredible project to continue to move forward..

I am sure everyone has seen my new post at

http://mahoningvalley.info/forum/index.php?topic=11174.0 (http://mahoningvalley.info/forum/index.php?topic=11174.0)

Now all we need to do is figure out how to get people to actually use our website. If you are shopping online please use our site.

Help us build the world's first ©Envirominium, help us help this valley. When was the last time we made national news for anything positive. According to Forbes, Entrepreneur Magazine, and many other sources, environmental technologies is the largest growing business in the US today.

I can tell you, after much research we were unable to find any preliminary designs that rival ours online, and our technologies work. We have been trying to bring a prototype to a commissioners meeting to no avail and as I am sure you can tell from my writings here, no one is helping us. We fund everything we do out of pocket, with the exception of the recent help this Year from Ron and his partner at Fire Pearl.

Yea Ron Eiselstien the guy I was arguing furiously with online when he wanted to build his fish tanks at our site. So our organization must be some kind of something to change that guys mind because everyone knows that once Ron puts his mind to something, he does it. After really seeing what we are doing, and what we are about however, Ron has come to realize we do have a great plan, we do have some great technologies, and we can do something incredible here in Mahoning Valley but we are simply not capable of doing it without the help of our community.

I mean we are not even asking for cash donations, we simply would like people to use the links on our website when they shop online. Not a very difficult request I would think.

This is the last remaining part of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube still functioning in its original capacity, not to mention the world's First Modern Apartment Complex and here is one very good reason to help us.

If an earthquake like the one who hit Haiti or Japan hit Ohio, where would we set up an emergency shelter. You think there would be much left after an event such as that, other than our concrete condos and a few other structures that might survive.

Just because they don't look the prettiest, doesn't mean they are not still one of THEE STRONGEST STRUCTURES IN MAHONING VALLEY, and anytime anyone wants a tour so we can prove it, come on down.

Well that is my rant for today, I have to get back to it.
