Only about 50 residents attended.
How Sad! :'(
The sad truth is only 30% of the public has children in education these days.....
and out of that 30%......to get them to attend any meeting regarding education is like pulling teeth....
but put a levy on the ballot...and they will beat you to the polls to vote NO!
Too bad no one we know with students still in the district knew about it in time to attend and directly assess their concerns.
We also must say that the many families we do know, instantly jumped the gun to file Open Enrollment paperwork with other districts that opened additional rounds of enrollment when this was made public.
Parents that love their children and care about their education, don't want to see a bomb dropped on their hopes for their children...especially when they may have bought their homes years ago in certain areas because schools were close by.
And the district thought they were going to keep families? They just shot themselves in the foot. Hopefully they find it easy to sign the 6000.00 check per student to the other districts...on top of the ones that are already gone in OE from prior periods.
