Today if you're in the market for a new car you have to go to Boardman :P (UGGGGGGH!) but that was not always the case :'(
When Wick Avenue Was The New Auto Dealership Capitol Of Youngstown
Henderson-Roller Cadillac Co. 693 Wick Avenue
E. P. Zinn Co. 850 Wick Avenue – Franklin dealership
Nash Youngstown Co. 1201 Wick Avenue
Moss-Schreiber, Inc. Wick at Rayen – Chrysler dealership
F. B. Smith Co. 1107 Wick Avenue – Chevrolet dealership
W. O. Strausbaugh Co. – Wick at Illinois – Dodge dealership
Youngstown Paige-Jewett Co. 207-209 Wick Avenue
Wick Avenue Motor Co. – Wick at Woodbine – Essex dealership
Sterns Motor Sales Co. 1201 Wick Avenue
Wick-Rayen Sales and Storage Co. 235 Wick Avenue – Oldsmobile
The Dietrich Motor Car Co. 845-849 Wick Avenue – Huppmobile
Huppmobile, Essex, Nash, Franklin? I didn't realize Wick Avenue's auto "heritage" went back that far! I just assumed that the collection of auto dealers on Wick (and the ruins of their paved lots, still there today) was just a result of post-war exuberance.
The source: Ads in the 1926 editions of the Vindicator and does not include used car lots not associated with the new car dealers.
Which dealerships were included in the "Wick Six" ?
Couldn't answer that question except for W. O. Strausbaugh Co. – Wick at Illinois – Dodge dealership. Remember that list was based on ads that ran in the 1926 Vindicator ... a couple of years before my time.
