Teenager Shot on South Side

Youngstown police responded to a shooting late Monday afternoon on the city's South Side.

Officers and detectives were called to a home at 64 E. Avondale Ave. near Southern Boulevard around 2:30 p.m., just as schools in the area were being dismissed for the day. Police said a 17-year-old male was wounded in what was apparently a drive-by shooting.

The scene quickly became chaotic as family, neighbors and others showed up to see what had happened. No one has been arrested the condition of the victim, who was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, is not known.

South Side Homicide Suspect's Bond Set at $1 Million Bond has been set at $1 million for a South Side Youngstown man arrested on murder charges.

Gregory Carlini, 37, was visibly upset when he appeared Monday afternoon in Youngstown Municipal Court, and it looked as though he may have been crying.

Police were called to his Bancroft Avenue home about 11 p.m. Sunday for a shooting. They found Erica Elford, 33, of Berlin Center, with a bullet wound to the head.

Investigators said the victim and Carlini knew each other. The suspect is due back in court later this week.
